I have a love-hate relationship with the beach. I hate going to the beach because I’m very out of shape. I’m kind of flabby in the wrong, every wrong places. I really need to take exercise seriously, especially since Summer is just a few months away. On the other hand, I love going to beaches because it’s one of the very few places where one can fully unwind and be totally carefree (ie. you don’t have to bother about clothes, hair, make-up). Simple pleasures as they say.
We spent pretty much the entire afternoon within Playa Manuel Antonio. It’s a lovely area on the Pacific Ocean side of Costa Rica. Had a fabulous, fresh lunch at Marlin restaurant. The lobster and the whole fried fish was absolutely divine.

Have you downloaded Beyonce’s latest album? I bought it last week on iTunes and have been listening to it non-stop with my gold Frends headphones (Frends headphones, a gift from Rebecca Minkoff who collaborated with them. I think it’s amazing what she did — dropped a major album out of NOWHERE and of course, all 17 music videos at the same time. Now that’s groundbreaking! Only Queen Bey could pull that shit off! Most artists, since the time of the dinosaurs, did the usual formula of sending out teasers, releasing a music video throughout a certain time span to promote the album but not Beyonce. My favourite track? Pretty Hurts.

Pura Vida, Costa Rica! It’s time to embark on another adventure! 2013 was another banner year and, for the final stretch, I thought I’d go somewhere new and exciting — Costa Rica! I know I’m a city boy by heart but it’s also refreshing to take the inner nature lover out of me from time to time. I flew to San Jose on Christmas Day with people close to my heart. We’ll spend the next few days exploring some parts of this beautiful country. I’m usually the well-organized, anal-retentive traveler but this time around, I’ve decided to just go and explore, with no game plan whatsoever. All we have is a rented house in the middle of the rain forest. We’ll see where the roads (and my camera) lead us…
It’s exciting, no? In this day and age of high standards and convenience, it’s easy to forget the essence of travel. It’s sad that over the years, we’ve spoiled ourselves with such high standards that we end up stopping ourselves from visiting certain places. I think it’s important to get lost to see what’s out there. The only thing that matters is that you come back alive to share your experiences.

This Holiday season, I’d like to encourage y’all to take a break from all forms of social media. I know I will.
Don’t be one of “them”. Don’t be a statistic. Happy holidays to everyone!
Story of my life in a nutshell.
Are you ready for resort? I am! I really am! I think it’s funny how I used to be a huge fan of the winter season. Before moving to New York City almost two years ago, I’ve always envisioned “winter” (from my previous travels, at least) as this gorgeous, glamorous, time of the year when it’s snowing every day and all there is to do is to go around town in gorgeous furs and drink hot tea in front of the fireplace wearing layers and layers of four-ply cashmere. Little did I know it’s not really like that and I would end up miserable in my apartment FOR DAYS AT A TIME because it’s too damn cold to do anything remotely human outside. Don’t get me wrong — I’d rather be cold any time than deal with the heat. It’s no secret that I sweat like a whore in church and it’s not a good lewk. But seriously, the cold temperatures are paralyzing me. I’ve lost all willpower to haul my ass out of the couch.
Enough about the weather. I know there’s a ton of sales going on but I’m not gonna spend a single cent of my hard-earned money towards old merchandise. I did my fall/winter shopping before Thanksgiving and that was the end of my expenditures towards fall. I’m thrilled that new things are slowly trickling in at the stores, especially the resort and pre-collections. FINALLY!
I bought a pair of See by Chloe sandals on Shopbop the other day. I know, I know. Metal shoe trimmings are not going anywhere! I’m going somewhere warm next week and I can’t wait to rock these out. I think this is a terrific addition to my closet.

All I want for Christmas…. how can we make this happen?
I don’t speak German but I can if you like. German GQ decided to launch an anti-homophobia campaign called “MundPropaganda” featuring straight male celebrities in Germany…
Chanel released this short film directed by Karl Lagerfeld called “The Return” to celebrate Chanel’s latest Métier d’Art fashion show in Dallas, Texas. In the 1950s, Coco Chanel visited Dallas at the request of Stanley Marcus (of Neiman Marcus).
