I know, I know. I’m a bit late in the game. I initially had doubts buying these Balenciaga cut-out boots at Barney’s. They first released these boots (for women) centuries ago but when I saw them on the men’s section for the first time during New York Fashion Week, I knew I had to get them. It’s a no-brainer purchase.
Are you excited for fall? I am! I’ve decided to stock up on outerwear this season. I bought this Acne Studios coat (dubbed the “Era”) on my trip to Stockholm last month. I know I’m gonna get major mileage out of this piece. Outerwear (ie. jackets and coats) is the most crucial thing one needs in the upcoming cool months. If you are a keen observer of my personal style, you’ll know that I’m a coat person vs a jacket person. There’s something comforting about wearing a nice, big coat. I like how it envelopes you and sometimes, the simplest, frills-free coat can be the chicest thing in the world.

It’s been quite awhile since I last obsessed over a designer collaboration. I must say Junya Watanabe Comme des Garcons’ capsule collection for Loewe is nothing but spectacular. I love the rendition on Loewe’s iconic Amazona bag and of course, the jeans — a delightful melange of leather, denim, suede, and different textures and fabrics.

You must be living in a different planet if you haven’t seen Miuccia Prada’s blockbuster spring-summer 2014 collection. Her usual venue, Via Foggazzaro 36, turned into a museum of all sorts, thanks to the murals on the walls featuring artists she cherry-picked. Talk about a visual and sensory feast! Don’t even get me started on the colourful, intarsia furs. Or when Britney’s latest track, “Work Bitch”, blared through the speakers. This is definitely one of those Prada shows that you get so high from watching and everything else after that is a downer. Bravo!
I recently attended the Luisa Via Roma’s Socialyte Gala Awards, held at The Box in New York City. I won an award! Thank you so much for those who voted for me in my category — Industry Choice (Men’s) Award. I wore my favourite shiny DSquared2 tuxedo jacket to the event – and blinged it out with a Cartier bracelet and Express watch. Quite a mix eh?
The legendary and iconic Kate Moss is the star of Stuart Weitzman’s fall 2013 campaign dubbed “Made For Walking”. I love how Kate was styled in her usual self — the hair, the big, chubby coat (so Kate Moss), the pea coat and the turtleneck in conjuction with selection of Stuart’s boots. So effortless…

I don’t know what it is but lately, I’m obsessed with simplicity. I love the idea of keeping everything to the bare minimum. Why carry a bulky bag when a small, clutch will do? Why bring a heavy wallet when there’s the lizard case option? Why wear a bangle when you can sport a chic, thin, gold bracelet? Why carry a packet of cigarettes and a lighter when you can get your nicotine fix via NJOY e-cigarettes? There’s something about well-chosen little things that pack a lot of punch.

New York Fashion Week officially begins today which means today is also the first day of fashion month. I thought I’d share some photos Rumi and I took while having lunch at Zink Grill in Stockholm, one of our favourite lunch spots. Calm before the storm, as they say. I’m so happy I had some “down time” with my best friend before the madness begins. It’s gonna be crazy over the next few weeks — there’s New York, there’s Milan, there’s Paris, there’s the trip to Los Angeles for a day for Teen Vogue’s Young Hollywood event in between, then there’s Paris again for more shows. Lord have mercy on me. As Emily once said, “I love my job, I love my job, I love my job.” Wore my Acne Romantic sweater with a pair of trousers from Theory.
Be sure to follow my fashion week adventures on my social media outlets! I’m also covering the Prabal Gurung show and afterparty on behalf of NJOY e-cigarettes so be sure to follow @NJoyecigs and #NJOYment.

Houston Stockholm, we have a problem.
Ever heard of the phrase “Stockholm Syndrome”? Here’s a little fun fact for you — in 1973, several employees of the former Kreditbanken in Norrmalmstorgwere held hostage. During the standoff, the victims became emotionally attached and even defended their captors after they were freed. The ground floor of the same building is now the home of the Acne flagship store in Stockholm. The rest of the building now belongs to Nobis hotel where I stayed at for a week. You could only imagine how often I went downstairs to Acne. Rumi and I must’ve been there at least twice a day. I literally bought something new every day. It was so awkward telling staffers that it was somewhat pointless to wrap my purchases in tissue paper (and huge paperbags) because I’m literally staying a few floors up.
Oh Acne. Acne, Acne, Acne. Why oh why do you make some of the most relevant clothes around? You’re so dangerous to my bank account.
