Jason Wu Laser-cut Leather Clutch

29/04/2014, Accessories, Fashion and Style, Handbags, Jason Wu, Spring Summer 2014

You’ve been wearing a lot of white lately, you’re gonna love our gift,” my friend Gustavo squealed as he handed me my present when I celebrated my birthday dinner at the Monarch Room last month. He was right. This gorgeous ivory laser-cut leather “Daphne” clutch by Jason Wu is the most perfect thing ever. It’s slightly roomier than most clutches; it also functions as a chic day piece! I love a good bag that can fit way more than a credit card and a lip gloss tube.

Over the weekend, Brooke Candy premiered her latest music video (“Opulence”), in collaboration with Steven Klein and Nicola Formichetti.

I first met Brooke Candy over dinner in Venice the night before she performed at the Diesel fashion fashion. She briefly went to me (around 1:00) during her performance and I was glad to cheer her on.

X Marks The Spot

23/04/2014, Alexander Wang, Barbara Bui, Current Affairs, Dubai, Theory

Y’all know me and my taste — I usually love anything AND everything colourful and embellished but lately, I’ve been toning it down big time. I’ve been stockpiling a rather disturbing amount of white items in my closet over the past few months. My obsession started last year but now it’s gone full force. It’s mildly disturbing actually. Whenever I go to stores, I usually make a beeline to the white section if they have it. Before leaving for Dubai, I bought this nifty “X” Alexander Wang sweater. I feel like there’s something chic about white clothes. It makes you look clean, pristine and of course, effortless. Yes, I know the white memo arrived late in my inbox, in any case, I’m loving this ‘new’ look on me.

Hot Desert Knight

20/04/2014, Chanel, Current Affairs, Dubai, Prada, Rolex

I don’t know what possessed me but I bought this really cute Chanel bag when I went to Venice two weeks ago. It was love at first sight. It fits all my life essentials, plus, it’s a classic “non-classic” (since it’s not a 2.55 or what have you) if you know what I mean. Took it out for a spin when I visited the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. This is my second Chanel bag in a span of three months. I’m still recovering from the sticker shock of my Chanel backpack but you know what, when you see something cute such as this, it’s a no-brainer…

Backstage at Diesel Fall 2014 Show

07/04/2014, Diesel, Fall Winter 2014, Fashion and Style, Venice

I haven’t seen Nicola Formichetti in months so I was rather excited when I popped backstage at the Arsenale di Venezia, the venue for this season’s Diesel fall 2014 show. “I’m nervous,” he said, after showing me one of the clutch bags modeled after a bible. “Don’t be silly, it’s Diesel, it’s denim,” I replied. His debut collection was built upon three Diesel foundations: rock ‘n’ roll leather, denim and military-utility.

Healthy Options

31/03/2014, Acne, Chanel, Current Affairs, Furla

I’ve been integrating exercise into my boring and banal daily routine ever since I got back from Europe almost two weeks ago. By exercise, I mean lifting ten pound weights.

I’m usually the unhealthiest person in the world given my penchant for abusing my body to the extreme. Back in the day, I used to stay up all night, chain-smoking my way well into the wee hours of dawn, surviving on barely four hours of sleep per day. But lately, I’ve been sleeping a minimum of seven hours (it helps when you set a personal curfew of 10:30-11PM), I’ve been waking up before the sun is up and of course, I do my best to hit the treadmill three or four times a week. I do 100 situps twice a day. I’m all about healthy options these days. My former agent used to joke how I’m all about a bowl of sausages for breakfast and he was right. Nowadays, gimme a plain egg white omelette with a side of broccoli. And a glass of grapefruit juice.

My obsession with being fit and healthy started when I saw a gray nose hair a few months ago. It was a wake-up call. It signaled “bitch, you’re old”. The following afternoon, I went to Chanel to see what they have in the stores (I’m gonna fess up and say I was curious about their famous espadrilles), lo and behold I saw this major white sneaker. At first I thought, the shoes are gonna be perfect for the airport. Then I realized I can’t have a multi-logo-a-gogo situation, with what, a Rolex watch, Louis Vuitton trolley and Goyard tote — the lewk screamed Asian at Duty Free.

The lightbulb “aha” moment didn’t happen until I was in Madrid in February when I forgot to bring my trusty old Nikes. I wanted to run one morning and told myself there’s no way in hell I’m gonna run in Chanel but you know what, the more I (or anybody else) tell myself not to do something, the more I end up doing it so I ended up running in my Chanel sneakers. And you know what? It felt good. So now I use my Chanel sneakers as my work out shoe wherever I go. It’s amazing.

Ultra Miami 2014 Highlights: Alesso, Nicky Romero, Hardwell

31/03/2014, Music

Happy Monday kids! How are you guys? I don’t know about you but if you aren’t one of the tens, if not, hundreds, of thousands of people who flocked to Miami for this year’s Ultra Miami 2014 Music Festival, let me tell you, you missed a lot. No, it has nothing to do with getting high to have “fun”. Mind you, I’ve never done molly nor do I have plans to do so. I’m thirty two, I have high blood pressure due to years of cigarette smoking (I’m trying to quit, promise!) and I’m way too scared to fuck with my heart. My youth wasn’t spent sober… I’m sure y’all know I have even more dangerous (and expensive) vices, namely Prada and Fendi….

Hardwell at Ultra Miami 2014 Music Festival

For me, it’s all about the music. I find dance music extremely therapeutic. I’d say I can easily get high just by listening to a major track. A good song is like riding a fast-moving rollercoaster. It can pull you up, drop you all the way down, fiddle with your emotions, bring back memories, etc. And then you let go, stomp around, hands up in the air and do your best fist pump.

I thought I’d share some of my personal highlights from this year’s festival. My favourite sets over the weekend are by Alesso, Nicky Romero and of course, the one and only numero uno Hardwell, who showed absolutely zero mercy, closed Ultra and fucking killed it.

Here are some two new gems from Alesso. THESE TWO SONGS ARE EVERYTHING.

Oh oh oh, 3lau dropped a track called “Always” featuring a collaboration with Blinders and Shaun Frank. I was so desperate to find out the name of the song… and then I had a lightbulb moment. Why don’t I ask 3lau on twitter, so I did. And he replied within minutes right after his set. LOL. I can’t wait for it to be released.

Here’s 3lau’s set. The track begins at 18:25.

I also love “Shadow of the Sun”.

The Chainsmokers #SELFIE

25/03/2014, Music

This track from The Chainsmokers (#SELFIE) is probably the most appropriate track of our generation.

YouTube Preview Image

Sooo… like what do you think? Did you think that girl was pretty? How did that girl even get in here? Did you see her? She’s so short and that dress is so tacky. Who wears Cheetah? It’s not even summer, why does the DJ keep on playing “Summertime Sadness”? After we go to the bathroom, can we go smoke a cigarette?
I really need one but first, LET ME TAKE A SELFIE.
