To give a hint on what’s next to come from Jason Wu’s upcoming spring/summer 2015 collection for BOSS, he commissioned Marco Brambilla to direct this video featuring Finnish model Suvi Koponen.

I thought I’d share some of my fave highlights on Day 2 of Electric Zoo 2014 Music Festival. At first I was like, hmm, should I go back for another round? Maybe, maybe not, maybe, maybe not. I ended up going on Day 2 and I have zero regrets because Day 3, like last year, was cancelled PREMATURELY by the authorities because of this so-called “severe weather forecast”, which, btw, didn’t happen. Just a few minutes of drizzle (YAASSSSS!) and pretty much this side of the Atlantic comes to a complete halt. Americans, especially in the East Coast, are particularly paranoid when it comes to weather.
I loved Dyro, Zedd and Armin’s sets. I had so much fun hanging out with the kids. I think I’m gonna maximize this moment before I reach that point of no return. I don’t wanna be one of those 40 year olds who look like 40 year olds but act like a bunch of 16 year olds, ya know? Not a good lewk.
I can’t believe summer is almost over and fashion month (PLEASE DON’T REFER IT AS “FASHION WEEK” BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW IT AIN’T A WEEK) begins, well, on Wednesday. Going all out over the weekend was a good way to remind myself that I’m human, I’m capable of letting my hair down and have lots fun.
I’ve always wanted to go to but I never got around doing it over the past few years because of my travel schedule but I blocked the whole month of August this year as personal “me” time and I finally did it. Yes! I went to the opening yesterday afternoon and I had lots of fun. For those of you who don’t know what Electric Zoo 2014 is (hopefully an annual event moving forward) a three-day EDM festival at Randall’s Island here in New York City.
It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of EDM. I’ve been listening to it for years, way before it was even called “EDM”. I love the music. I really do, especially progressive/electro house, even cheesy commercial house at times. It’s cheerful and uplifting. I get so much joy and pleasure dancing hard to the beat, it’s indescribable. On a purely selfish note, I personally love dancing like a lunatic because it’s my version of burning calories aka working out.
I love a good outdoor party session versus partying in a nightclub. The older I get, the more I loathe clubs. I guess I started early. The first time I’ve stepped foot in a club was almost 18 years ago — when I was 14! These days there’s too much bullshit involved in clubs. Gathering people, queueing (if necessary), getting in, waiting in line to get a drink if you don’t have a table, paying exorbitant amounts of money to get a fucking table, and then you have shitty music AND shitty people who don’t dance.
When it comes to outdoor parties, once you’re in, you’re in. No nasty, power-tripping bouncers and door bitches to deal with judging your outfit head-to-toe. Everyone’s all happy, giddy (maybe some are on drugs but it’s none of my business) and they’re all united for the love of music. I’m an old soul. I don’t do drugs and all I’m after is a happy place where I can feel young again, throw caution to the wind, get high from the beats and dance like there’s no tomorrow.
I don’t know what it is but it feels liberating. There’s something thrilling dancing, getting all sweaty and wet, having fun, sharing smiles and good vibes with utter strangers whom you’ll never see again for the rest of your life. Oh and sitting on top of the shoulders of very tall men to admire the view of the sea of people and their well-lit phones? It’s a priceless feeling! You cannot put a price tag on sheer happiness.
That’s what I did yesterday and that’s what I’m gonna do again later tonight for Day Two of Electric Zoo!
Three days after my wisdom tooth extraction, I swung by the Louis Vuitton boutique in Soho after being told by a friend that a huge chunk of Nicolas Ghesquiere’s debut collection for the house had arrived. The last time I went to the store was ages ago when I bought luggage. I had a hard time exercising restraint and self-control because every runway piece in the store was desirable. I love the floral trousers. I NEED the turtlenecks in all color ways and the zip-front jackets. And all the belts too! In the end, I walked out of the store with a couple of knits and the new Louis Vuitton Malletage Doc PM bag.
Oh Mr. Ghesquiere… you’re so dangerous to my bank account!
