Trattoria Bagutta Milan

Trattoria Bagutta Milan

I joined my good ol' friend Sonny, Anna and Harper's Bazaar backstage honcho Sean Cunningham for dinner at Trattoria Bagutta last night. It's always a pleasure chatting with backstage photographers about models, freelance work, the state of the industry especially with these tough economic times, budget cuts at traditonal media houses and more.

Meanwhile, streetstyle-blog staple, the absolutely stunning and ferosha Kate Lanphear was also there. First one to spot her shall win a kiss on the cheek from me and an oreo cookie.

Naughty Sonny!! Oops. ;) I love you Kate!!!

NATASHA POLY YOU BETTER WERQ!

NATASHA POLY YOU BETTER WERQ!

Back in June, I swore to myself I'll never get photographed beside a model again because I'm not comfortable with the huge disparity between looks... but the inevitable happened. SUPER POWER WONDER TWINS ACTIVATE! Backstage at Dolce & Gabbana, holy moly it's Natasha Poly!

Me and my favourite model in the history of all time. The most ferocious walker ever, ever, ever, EVER! I'll never apologize for saying I love her more than I love Gisele, Kate and Naomi COMBINED.

Now, can we please go to WERQ?

That's all.

A Place in Fashion History

A Place in Fashion History

In a very bizarre (and surreal) twist of fate, I had the privilege and honor of sitting on the same row as some of the fashion industry's heavyweights at the Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010 fashion show yesterday afternoon: IHT/NY Times' Suzy Menkes, Michael Roberts of Vanity Fair, American Vogue's Sally Singer (who I really love and admire), Anna Wintour and Hamish Bowles, and Tommy Ton of Jak and Jil.

Dolce & Gabbana Front Row

I'm usually the early bird when it comes to fashion shows but this time around, I went there two or three minutes before the show began because of pre-show interviews I did upstairs. When I finally settled to my seat, reality hit me. There I was, sitting amongst THE establishment. Influential people who shaped fashion for years and whose work you've kept track of since childhood. I've lost all sense of self and wrote a post on twitter how I wished for the ground to open up and swallow me alive. I was soo nervous throughout the entire time I even dropped my cellphone to the floor!

Thank you so much Dolce & Gabbana for this wonderful opportunity and for embracing us bloggers with open arms. I'll cherish this experience for the rest of my life.

Coming up next: models! backstage! clothes! Dolce & Gabbana's return to the classic floral prints!

PS. The very handsome 'stached Hamish Bowles is, as always, AWESOME! He came up to me after the show and it's soo nice seeing him again.

Bricks Versus Clicks

Bricks Versus Clicks

Just going through my usual dose of fashion news online... D&G shows some major online love, even placing YOOX.com's CEO front row at their show yesterday afternoon.

From today's Women's Wear Daily:

Bloggers are now officially front-row material. At least that was the case at the D&G show on Thursday, where Neiman Marcus’ Burt Tansky and Saks’ Steve Sadove and other retail heavyweights were accommodated in the second row, and further back for fashion directors. In front of them were four high-profile bloggers — The Sartorialist’s Scott Schuman, Garance Doré of garancedore.fr, Tommy Ton of jakandjil.com and Bryan Boy of bryanboy.com. And to make their job easier, two desks and four laptops were set up right in front of them, entirely operative, as there's no time to waste in cyberspace.

From Wall Street Journal's Christina Binkley (via twitter):

  • Arrived in Milan from LA in time to change my shoes and race to DandG. Always weird to see the Saks execs sitting 2nd row in Europe.
  • Well, Saks may be 2nd row at DandG (so am I), but Bergdorf's and Neiman are 3rd. Correlation to their sales? Milan fashion week.
  • Honestly - It's a new world order: federico marchetti, ceo of online retailer Yoox, is front row at D+G. saks, bergdorf, neiman's, aren't.

My Afternoon at Dolce & Gabbana

My Afternoon at Dolce & Gabbana

So many meetings, so little time. I spent a chunk of my afternoon visiting one of the most gorgeous offices and showrooms I've ever been to in my entire life: Dolce & Gabbana.

I also met Salvo, the super man who takes care of all the celebrities in the glamorous and glittering world of Dolce & Gabbana such as Madonna, Kylie etc.

What should I wear at the Dolce & Gabbana show? Well, we both agreed that it's NEVAH too early to wear sequins... haha! ;)
