On a different note, I *still* don't understand this whole obsession with social status. I've always thought the class system is obsolete especially in this day and age of individuality, you can be wherever you want to be on your own merit or personal capacity.

Is there anything wrong with wanting something SO bad? I don't see anything wrong for anyone to be crazy about joining the PFW festivities. Heck, I wouldn't be wherever I'm at now if I didn't (desperately if I may add) want to be in NY/Milan/Paris/Timbuktu/Whathaveyou.

Ah well, that's the third world for you.

Perhaps they should all go to Couture Fashion Week in New York?

My friend and I walked past Adora store (are they making money?) at Greenbelt 5 yesterday afternoon and I stopped to take a photo of the Missoni window display at the entrance. Within seconds of me pushing the button on my phone, the doorman came up and said the usual 'photos are not allowed, inside or outside the store' nonsense, hence the blurry shot. Oh, the irony!

And I thought it was only $15k -- that's what my Filipino friend in New York told me the other day. This, my fellow Filipino taxpayers, is where the pesoses go. From NY Post's Page Six:

The economic downturn hasn't persuaded everyone to pinch pennies. Philippines President Maria Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was at Le Cirque the other night with a large entourage enjoying the good life, even though the former comptroller of her country's armed services, Carlos Garcia, was found guilty earlier this year of perjury and two of his sons were arrested in the US on bulk cash-smuggling charges. Macapagal-Arroyo ordered several bottles of very expensive wine, pushing the dinner tab up to $20,000.

Corazon 'Cory' Aquino, Dead at 76

Speaking of politicians in the third world, I've just received news that former Philippine President Corazon 'Cory' Aquino finally passed away. She's been battling colon cancer for quite some time now. 

TBH, I don't have many memories of her. I was a little child during her term.

Back in the dark ages, we had way too many power problems, as in electrical brownouts, and me and my siblings had to study at night using candles.

RIP.

From billboards announcing their 'projects' to immigration cards, you know you're in the third world when you see images of government employees plastered everywhere. This is truly the lowest form of (shameless) self-promotion. I've been to several places around the world and this 'politician's face everywhere' sort of thing is prominent in really shitty countries. Like Iraq. Remember a few years ago when they broadcasted videos of the war in Iraq and Saddam's face is everywhere?

You have to hand it out to these idiots.

Had to take a cab earlier this morning to run very important errands cause our driver is sick.  Ten minutes into the ride, the cabbie started questioning me...

"Napanood nyo na ba yung video? Ang gandang lalaki ni Hayden Kho. Grabe ang katawan niya noh? Ang libog libog niya! Ganun pala sila (mga doctor), ang hihilig sa sex!"

I died.

You should've seen my face when I heard him say that. He was dead serious and he delivered his speech with conviction I've never heard before. You'd think he'd go on and on and on about Katrina but no, out of all the characters in this so-called KatKho brouhaha, Hayden was his main focal point.

In light of that whole Alec Baldwin and Filipina mail order bride joke brouhaha, I saw this poster at the photo developing shop the other day. I wanted to print some photos (white border please) for a scrapbook project.

Anyhoo, I simply could not believe my eyes when I saw this on the wall. Now I know why some photos look a certain 'way'.

I wish I brought my camera with me (instead of using my cell) to get a clearer picture. I laughed so hard when I saw the poster until it hit me.

Here in the Philippines, photo developing shops also act as mini studios where anyone under the sun could get photos taken for whatever purpose. When you look at the poster, half of those poses are so sexually-charged and sleazy. It's almost bone-chilling to think of a photographer to use the said guide as a point of reference to unsuspecting gullible souls.

I dunno. What do you think?
