I'm sure many of you are just as devastated as I am when news reports came in about Daul. 

We started talking online in February and after many months of endless conversations, facebook chats, we met for the first time in September during the spring 2010 shows in Milan. She invited me to her hotel room where we hung out for hours, just the two of us. She had a TV show in Korea where she takes video footage of herself and her favourite people. We played dress up -- she made me wear her clothes, we played with her furs (her Isabel Marant is gorgeous), chomped on toblerone, etc. We talked about Asians and racism in fashion, gossiped about models and mean casting directors, etc. Good times all in all. I could've spent the night in her hotel but I didn't bring any clean clothes with me and we both have shows in the morning. We agreed to meet up at D&G backstage the next day.

I've been crying the whole day. I just can't believe she's gone! Soo young and soo soon...

I feel terrible because we both talk about our personal problems but I didn't know it's going to end this way. I feel like I could have done something and I could've been there for her more. The last time we talked was last week.

She regularly comments on my facebook wall. Just this Tuesday, she replied to my status message.

I don't go as much on facebook chat because every time I go there, 200 chat windows show up with everyone in the world wanting to get a hold of me... I should have gone online when she posted that reply and took it as a sign that she wanted to talk!

Anyway, I digress.

Daul, I really miss you so much. I'll forever cherish our moments. You'll never be forgotten.

From one fur hag to another, I promise to wear my furs, when I have the opportunity (and where it's cold), in YOUR honor.

I love you Daul. So much.

Natalie Massenet, the amazing woman who founded luxury online retailer Net-a-Porter, answered my question at the International Herald Tribune Techno Luxury Conference in Berlin today.

According to Natalie, fashion bloggers and affiliate sites contribute to 5% of their sales.

The Financial Times reported Net-a-Porter's 2008 revenues at £81 million or approx. US$134 million. Five percent is US$6,700,000 in sales alone. Amazing eh?

I honestly thought the percentage would be much higher than 5%... but... it's good to know.

Meanwhile, thanks to Oli of Wednesday, THIS brought a smile to my face.

I wish I was in Berlin right now. There's lots of interesting revelations today, especially from Christopher Bailey of Burberry.

Hallelujah praise Jesus. Gemma has spoken and she rendered all the recent press reports that she "quit" as null and void. Fashionologie blogged Gemma emailed the West Australian newspaper that she'll be back working next year.

Good on ya Gemma! Can't wait to see you back.

I know online retailers have sophisticated tracking tools that identify referring URLs, clickthroughs, revenue and more...

There's a lovely article on today's issue of the Financial Times about fashion bloggers and I'm on the front cover of the Life & Arts section with that historical not to mention soon-to-be-iconic photo on the masthead of my blog. I'm feeling a bit peckish for some reading material and there are two books I'm looking forward to buying after (duh) reading about them online.

The first one is the 700+ page Prada book. It's 100 euros retail but you can get it for $79 at Amazon...

... the other book I want is "Luxury Online: Styles, Systems and Strategies" by Uche Okonkwo. I read about it on Women's Wear Daily and it looks promising.

The problem is, both books are not due to be released by Amazon until February next year. That's what, three and a half months?

You may pre-order now but you won't get them until they're out.

Hmmm.

Fans of the trench coat rejoice! Burberry launched Art of the Trench today, a new site inviting internet folk like you and me to view and submit portraits reflecting personal trench coat style across the globe.

Burberry Creative Director Christopher Bailey invited Scott Schuman (aka The Sartorialist) to take photos of people in Burberry trench coats in London, Milan, New York, Paris, Berlin, Sao Paulo and Venice over the past few months for the launch of the site.
