Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2009 2010 Video

The video is out. As always, leave it to the House of Dior to put on a magical couture show. Everything is just perfect -- the clothes, the intimate set, the amazing music and of course, models with bone-chilling, 102% pure couture poses that ooze 'high fashion'.

As a child, I grew up thinking Dior is the pinnacle of haute couture. This was before I knew about all the other (and older) couture houses. Of course I now know better but Dior (and John Galliano) to me is very special. Would I be able to go to a Dior haute couture show in the near future? I don't know. Will you, or some fashion angel, help me go to Dior couture someday? I hope so. In any case, I have a long way to go and I still need to pay my dues to the fashion gods. Either that, or, I need to win the lottery. Then I'll spend it all on a spectacular Dior ball gown which I'll wear on my deathbed when I'm 80 years old so my grandchildren would be able to say to everyone "Bryanboy died in Dior couture."

Can I just say I'm truly amazed with the power of twitter? First off, I have to give credit where credit is due. I recently got lost around the Trocadero area for the Ann Demeulemeester show. However, thanks to free wi-fi around Paris, I managed to update my Twitter status asking for directions. I have no idea what happened but Michele from the Ann Demeulemeester press office sent me an SMS and generously offered car service/a driver to pick me up where I was at. I thought that gesture was very, very sweet and kind. Thank you so much. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to reply because my French phone ran out of credit; my friend Sonny called me a few moments later and gave me directions, thank god.

Meet my new favourite boy -- Benoni Loos. I LOVE HIM!!! I first met him backstage at Hugo Boss Spring/Summer 2010. I was quietly fiddling with my camera until he went up to me with the Fashion TV camera and the bling bling diamond microphone. The rest, as they say, is history. He's such a sweetheart and he's got the fiercest blue eyes ever.

It's funny because after I took his photos, he grabbed my camera to take a photo of us together (in spite of my protests against being photographed WITH male models) but he tried to kiss my face with his tongue sticking out... It would be fun to post it on the blog but I look like shit so it's just for my personal viewing pleasure lol. Click click click for more pics!

Kim Jones + Dunhill Spring Summer 2010 Preview

I popped by the glorious Place Vendôme yesterday night to visit the Dunhill office and to meet the oh so charming Kim Jones, Dunhill's Creative Director. I'm really looking forward to meeting Kim. He and I were supposed to meet in Tokyo but my dinner ran late so I missed out. Now that I'm in Paris, well, I'm happy!

BTW, I look like a mess cause it rained outside and I forgot to bring an umbrella.

It's so sweet and kind of Kim to give me a preview of his Spring/Summer 2010 collection considering the show is only 2 days away and everyone is very busy. When I got to the office, the folks at Dunhill are doing the final fittings.

Unfortunately, as much as I want to share all of the photos I took during the preview, you're gonna have to wait until Saturday, the day of his show, to view them.

Holt Renfrew Unveils Fashion Blogger Windows

From Germany to Italy, let's move on to cool Canada! I have known this for quite some time now but I didn't want to blog about it until it's officially out there and Womens Wear Daily beat me to it. Trust me when I say it wasn't easy keeping this under wraps.

In about two days (this Friday evening), the glorious folks over at the 170-year old Holt Renfrew, Canada's leading luxury retail institution, will unveil their new window installations celebrating their favourite bloggers: the humble ickle 'ol me, The Sartorialist, Sea of Shoes, Garancedore, I Want I Got and Jak & Jil.

Why are they celebrating fashion bloggers? According to Holt Renfrew Creative Director John Gerhardt:

"Bloggers have become the fashion world's new celebrities. They're knowledgeable and influential contributors to the modern media landscape. Their opinions and visuals are relevant, creative and thought-provoking, providing a constant source of inspiration. We are honoured to pay homage to their style."

If you live in Canada, be sure to pay a visit to nine of their locations in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton to see the installations. I wish I could see the actual unveiling but alas, I'll be in Paris this Friday.

Don't forget to take photographs! I'm very curious what my window display would look like -- send me pics. It's not every day a highly-regarded international retail institution pay tribute to my antics... I mean COME ON, not even Shoemart (or Rustan's) in the Philippines probably doesn't even know I exist!!! But that's ok. Haha. I know my target audience quite well. ;)
