Talk about opening 2013 with a bang! Gwen Stefani, in Saint Laurent Paris, is on the cover of American Vogue‘s January 2013 issue. I love, love, LOVE the cover. Such a gorgeous shot, no?

125th Street in Harlem? Why not? Balmain and Vogue Magazine celebrated the launch of ‘The Pierre” handbag the other night at the amazing Red Rooster restaurant. Kicked off by meeting Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing who flew in from Paris just for the dinner, had a few cocktails before feasting on the best cornbread I’ve had in AGES. The lithe Russian Editor Anya Ziourova was one of my seatmates and we both LOVE the chicken. Ended the night with the gorgeous Kasia Struss dropping me off and stopping by at my apartment for a quick vodka nightcap before she went home. I must say it’s one of the best dinner parties I’ve been to in ages, hands down.
In other news, I really love this photo of Constance Jablonski, moi and Karlie Kloss. Even I can’t deal with the fabulosity of this image…

Scarlett Johansson is on the cover of the May 2012 issue of American Vogue. I’m not the biggest ScarJo fan but she looks DAZZLING on the cover.

Jennifer Lopez makes a second Vogue cover appearance on the April 2012 issue of American Vogue. She wore a dress from Bottega Veneta and the cover was shot by Mert and Marcus.

Iconic actress Meryl Streep is on the cover of the January 2012 issue of American Vogue.
Vogue posted a number of preview images on their website. Click HERE to see those images and to read the article. It’s interesting how Vogue didn’t Vogueify her too much. I thought the pictures looked very natural and remained true to her style.
What a delightful surprise! It’s refreshing to see a very established (and more mature, if I may add) actress on the cover as opposed to the usual up-and-coming starlets.

Behold the striking November 2011 issue of American Vogue. Rooney Mara, who’s in the new film The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, is on the cover shot by Mert & Marcus.
I’ve seen the movie ‘The Social Network’ in long-haul flights not once but many times but, yes, I had to google Vogue’s cover girl. That’s right. Rooney who? Excuse my ignorance. When was the last time you googled a Vogue (or most American fashion magazines) cover subject? Never, I’m sure! I simply couldn’t stop asking myself — WHO’S THAT GIRL?
In this day and age of formulaic magazine covers, it’s admirable that American Vogue is leading the way by featuring an actress that is not overexposed. I love the element of surprise, the element of mystery. Truly a breath of fresh air.
On the subject of Rooney — it’s all about transformation. Take a look at google images and you’ll see how she transformed herself for her role. Spectacular.
I can’t wait to get this issue!

DYING.
DYING!!!!!!!
This is what happened when Anna Wintour sent American Vogue’s Hamish Bowles (Leo Mercure is his alter-ego) to audition for X-Factor.

My beloved Jason Wu python bag made it on the home page of American Vogue’s website, Vogue.com (or http://www.americanvogue.com for those of you outside the USA). Wore it with a cashmere cardigan from Uniqlo, some beaded bracelets I picked up from a recent trip to South Africa earlier this month (Thakoon took a pic of them when I visited his studio later that day) and the printed shorts were custom-made in India (I bought the fabric from a local market). Yay!

Have you seen this video interview of Forbes Magazine featuring Anna Wintour? Watch it.
I’m extremely fascinated by her. I really am. I find her truly inspirational. What I like the most is her clear point of view. She knows what she wants, she’s decisive and she always strives for the best. If anything, she’s gracious and very professional.
I thought the advice she gave about remaining true to yourself was spot-on. Simple but powerful words.
