When was the last time you did something for the first time? I always, always ask myself that question. Life is too short not to try things so when I got invited to guest DJ at an event, I said yes.
I DJed for the first time last night at Bar Begemot. It's funny because I only organized my tracks like an hour before my set in my hotel room. I'm so glad people danced… and some even came up to me after my set.I really had fun. I swear I'm gonna practice more and who knows, maybe I'll DJ at a club haha lol!!
The most important thing I learned: you need 24 tracks per hour of play. Oh and Traktor is my new best friend. Ditto with Dasha who REALLY helped me out. :-)
After almost two days of traveling, I’m back in my adopted motherland, Russia.
To those of you who are new to my site, I started my blog in 2004 because I went to Russia for a vacation.
I know I went to Moscow November last year for the Cycles and Seasons event but this time, I’m in beautiful St. Petersburg for Aurora Fashion Week. It’s my second time herein SPB… can you believe it’s been what, six years since I last went here?
One of my best friends is currently on holiday in Russia. When I heard the news this morning about the two subway bombings in Moscow, I couldn’t help but worry.
Female suicide bombers detonated explosions that rocked two subway stations in central Moscow during rush hour on Monday morning, killing at least 35 people, officials said.
“It was a terrorist act carried out by the female suicide bombers,” said Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov, citing Russia’s intelligence agency, the Federal Security Service. “They were specifically timed — for … the train was nearing the station — to make the most damage. — CNN
Luckily, I’ve heard back from her and she’s doing fine. Thank god she left Moscow yesterday. She’s now in St. Petersburg.
One of the two subway stations (Lubyanka and Park Kultury) bombed is very near the Vogue Russia office!
I hope all my other friends and acquaintances in Moscow are safe.
Today is my birthday. My friends Inna and Pasha in Moscow made me this lovely, heart-warming video.
Proof that the best things in life are free and don’t come with a designer label. :-) (funny for me to say that because they work for the company that manages Marc Jacobs in Russia… lol)
