Over dinner last year, the designer Jason Wu, upon seeing his multi-strap lizard sandals on my feet, told me that the biggest compliment a designer could get is not getting a good show review from a critic or a celebrity wearing clothes pulled out by a stylist but actually seeing a client, a customer, buy and wear things a designer made. His PR people didn’t send me the sandals; I bought them full-price. Jason made perfect sense.
Speaking of buying, there are very, very few designers who I consistently shop from season after season. One of them is Phillip Lim. I simply adore what he does. A running joke amongst my friends is that 3.1 Phillip Lim should just go public in a few years because I buy so much of his clothes that I’m practically a majority stockholder. What isn’t there to love about Phillip Lim’s world? He makes really cool clothes that are easy to wear. His pieces are well made. Also, you’ll never feel like you got robbed at gunpoint after shopping at his store. His price points are justifiable. I haven’t seen a $2,000 neoprene or worse, cotton, sweatshirt from him, thank god.
I fell in love with this (click multi-color patchwork shearling coat) after seeing it at his fall/winter 2014 fashion show earlier in February. When Look 15 came down on the runway, I told myself, “that’s THE one!” It’s *my* coat of the season. I consider fur/shearling coats as a “major” purchase like how the average person consider “cars” as a major purchase. As such, I only allow myself to indulge to one major coat per season. I bought the coat in August when I got back after my summer holiday in Ibiza and have been praying for cold temperatures since. I mean, who, pray tell, is in their right frame of mind when they buy heavy winter coats when there’s a heat wave outside? I know, I know I’m one of those people who like to buy clothes early and have them gather dust in the back of the closet until the mercury drops.
I love my coat. LOVE. LOVE. I can’t even.

Over the weekend, Max Mara ambassador Natalie Joos and I raided each other’s apartments –mine in the Financial District, hers in Williamsburg. I’m wildly obsessed with her cool, eclectic style. There are very few “street style” stars who wear clothes in a personal kind of way. She’s a true original.
Her wardrobe is a terrific mix of the latest and the greatest, upcoming designers and of course, a ton of vintage pieces. She’s a HUGE champion of vintage shopping — she also took me to one of her favorite vintage stores in Brooklyn. Her closet is a well-organized operation with military-grade precision. Every single item had their own space and place. She has an accessories closet that housed her bags, hats and shoes. She invested in a custom-built closet in her spare guest bedroom which stored even more shoes and a ton of dresses. Her coats, like me, go to different rolling racks. Her sweaters (and yes, even socks) are all folded nicely. Even her sunglasses are organized, by color and style, in a really cool rotating stand that you usually find in shops.
It’s very impressive how she mixed different things that I own in ways I never thought of before. She knows what looks good in photos without even trying things on. A strip sweater underneath a printed grid top? Major.
Personal style aside, what I love Natalie the most is her intimate stories about life, living in New York and of course, dating. I live vicariously through her dating stories!

Remember that time back in the dark ages when iPods were all the rage and good ol’ Uncle Karl Lagerfeld went on a publicity spree showing off his collection of over 100 iPods? One could only imagine having a personal iPod nanny at their disposal. I’m honestly have no clue whether or not iPods are still around (hint: too lazy to google) but the idea of having my own slave updating my iPhone and my laptop with all the latest tracks is kind of amazing, no?
Here are some of my favorite new tracks perfect for the new season. Autumn is upon us bitches! If you see me werq, I mean walk, the streets with my headphones on, the likelihood of me listening to one of these tracks is quite high. Enjoy!

After the Valentino show, I went to the Palais Royal to preview 3.1 Phillip Lim’s collaboration with BLITZ Lane Crawford. It’s Phillip’s first collection of exotic skin (American crocodile) handbags.
The collection features three of Phillip’s popular handbag styles, the 3.1 Minute clutch, the Mini Ryder and the Wednesday, made from fine American crocodile skin. Each style is available in two colorways, jet black and jade green. They come in a very limited quantity of no more than 20 pieces per style.
Visit Lanecrawford.com to view (or purchase) online. Lane Crawford ships worldwide. For those of you in Hong Kong, the bags are going to be available in-stores, at Lane Crawford IFC Mall and Lane Crawford Canton Road starting from October 6.
No trip to Tangier is complete without visiting the legendary Cafe Hafa. Founded in 1921, this modest cafe perched along a cliff with spectacular views of the Bay of Tangier (and Spain on a very good, very clear day). Cafe Hafa is known for its mint tea. You go there, sit back, relax and enjoy a glass of their refreshing tea. The vibe is very casual. It’s ultra low-key so don’t expect full fare or anything fancy.

Hola mamacita! Hola papi chulo! Despite all my world travels, I had never been to Mexico. It seemed appropriate that Mexico City be my introduction. I’ve heard so many things about this megalopolis — glorious food, terrible traffic, and plenty of pollution, but to be honest, as I stepped off the plane, I had absolutely no idea what to expect.
I had a long list of places to visit in the city, but at the top was the Centro Historico, or the historical center of Mexico City. At its heart was the Zocalo, a plaza lined with immense buildings with ancient facades stained by the pollution and hundreds of years of rich history. Standing at the center of it all, listening to the bells of the cathedral, I felt as though I could have easily been in some other old-world European city.
Queenie and I left our hotel, the Condesa DF in Condesa, at the crack of dawn to beat the crowds and traffic. We spent the entire morning wandering around and paid our dues at some of the old, very old fixtures, such as the Palacio Nacional, Cathedral Metropolitana, Palacio de Bellas Artes, Museo Nacional de Arte and Palacio de Correos. We got back to the hotel just in time to make the last call for breakfast. We couldn’t have had a more productive morning!

Thought I’d share some shots during my final days in Los Angeles. I can’t believe taping Cycle 20 of America’s Next Top Model has gone by so quickly. I remember bolting for the airport after the Calvin Klein show on Valentine’s Day during New York Fashion Week… and now it’s April all of a sudden! The past month and a half disappeared in a flash!
I have to say, I’ve developed a strong sense of familiarity with the production team and crew that are a part of the show. I’m so happy to see most of them this time around. Even though I’ve worked with them for such a short amount of time, they’re all really starting to feel like family. I’m gonna miss all of them so much once we wrap taping.

I hit the courts with Queenie and Rumi the other day. It was my first time playing tennis. I have to say that I did pretty well, considering I wore 3 inch Marc by Marc Jacobs wedge sneakers on the court. Mama Anna Wintour is probably beaming with pride and delight right now…
Unless you count swimming in hotel pools or online shopping marathons, I’m not big on sports. I really should be more active at my age. Handling racquets and chasing balls is my idea of a perfect Sunday activity. Why not?

3.1 Phillip Lim just released ‘Trickers’ by Jacob Sutton featuring Phillip’s spring/summer 2013 menswear collection.
The best way to tell whether my boo feels safe or not is by looking at the pocket where he keeps his cellphone. If he feels safe, he’d put his cellphone on the back pocket of his jeans. If he has doubts, he’ll put it in his front pocket. While walking to the White House, I told him, well, Washington D.C. is probably the safest place in America right now, with what, big brother watching from every imaginable angle possible, even from the sky! He then rebutted, well, a small town in Alaska is probably the safest. To which I replied, “I can see Russia from my house!”
No visit to the nation’s capital would be complete without stopping by the venerable White House. Can I just say that it looks much, much smaller in real life than how it looks on television? Proof that television and cameras add 10 extra pounds…
