As many of you guys know, I recently visited Seoul, South Korea as a guest judge for an episode of Project Runway Korea All-Stars. I had so much fun doing it. The challenge for the designer contestants was to create a head-to-toe look inspired by my sense of style. They went through my closet in my hotel room to be inspired. I guess over the years I’m kind of known of my crazy, eccentric looks. Little did they know I showed up on panel in one of my conservative looks — in H2T Giorgio Armani, Prada shoes and my favorite Peter Som coat. The looks the designers created were cute. Some were able to capture the essence of my personal style while some failed. It was interesting nonetheless to see what they created based on their limiter knowledge of me. Fun times all around!
Thank you so much Project Runway Korea for having me! I love love love working I’m television!
These colourful prints-on-python leather pieces (short-sleeved top and skirt) made an appearance at the Peter Som’s spring/summer 2013 show this morning. I thought they were refreshing.
I’ve been running around Manhattan like a rat. I slept early last night with hopes I’d catch up on much-needed sleep but eventually waking up at 4AM to the sound of rain banging on my window.
New York Fashion Week officially starts tomorrow. I had the privilege of visiting some of my favorite designers who gave me a preview and an intimate, personal run-through of their collection just days prior to their shows. Everyone is cool, calm and collected. No screaming matches, no panic, no drama. There’s a sense of confidence from all three men (Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu and Peter Som). They should be confident. I saw many beautiful garments up close. I got to touch the fabrics, play with the clothes and see the workmanship behind pieces, which, to be honest, deserve more than a mere forty-five second walk on the runway or an image on the internet. It’s moments like this that make me realize, damn, I really love my job.
My dearest readers, I’ll share the photos after their shows.
Thank you Prabal, thank you Jason and thank you Peter. I can’t wait to see your collections on the runway.
Peter Som, surprisingly, is one of my favourite collections in New York. I’ve been to a few presentations at Milk Studios during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and I really enjoyed his. It was a beautiful presentation with the models interacting, some even smiling, when you point your camera to them. And the clothes? There’s the element of fun and youth to them and the looks were very, very well-put together. I thought the styling itself was inspirational. Spectacular! These are easy to wear, well-made garments in some of the most amazing fabrics. I wanted to touch them. Also, some of the sweaters were to die for — you know me, I have a MAJOR weakness for anything striped! There’s a quirky feel to the looks, yes, however, one thing thing remain distinct: the finishing was so exquisite it gave the whole collection a sophisticated polish.
Don’t even get me started with some of the accessories. I, along with several people I met throughout the presentation were swooning with the gorgeous necklaces and bracelets.
