Prizmic and Brill
I don’t usually venture out beyond the 2nd floor of Greenbelt 5. I’ve been hearing great things about Prizmic & Brill from friends so I thought I’d check it out and I’m glad I did. It’s my new favourite shop here in Manila and yes, they allow photos to be taken inside. Hah!

So chic this store. Click click click!

Oh, the Irony!
My friend and I walked past Adora store (are they making money?) at Greenbelt 5 yesterday afternoon and I stopped to take a photo of the Missoni window display at the entrance. Within seconds of me pushing the button on my phone, the doorman came up and said the usual ‘photos are not allowed, inside or outside the store’ nonsense, hence the blurry shot. Oh, the irony!

I feel so naughty.

For a Good Cause
I had a lovely conversation earlier this afternoon with my friend Mrs. T, aka The Bag Hag. She’s auctioning off her Hermès Gris Tourterelle Victoria bag to raise funds for the benefit of Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Manila.

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's $20,000 Dinner at Le Cirque
And I thought it was only $15k — that's what my Filipino friend in New York told me the other day. This, my fellow Filipino taxpayers, is where the pesoses go. From NY Post's Page Six:

The economic downturn hasn't persuaded everyone to pinch pennies. Philippines President Maria Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was at Le Cirque the other night with a large entourage enjoying the good life, even though the former comptroller of her country's armed services, Carlos Garcia, was found guilty earlier this year of perjury and two of his sons were arrested in the US on bulk cash-smuggling charges. Macapagal-Arroyo ordered several bottles of very expensive wine, pushing the dinner tab up to $20,000.

Worst President EVER. Ang chaka talaga niya!!!

I've been waiting for months for these old school granddaddy shoes to go on sale at ac+632 but the store won't budge. I'm sooo obsessed with them but they're a bit pricey. What the heck, I got myself a nice nifty pair… can you guess which one I got? Can't wait to wear them.

Corazon 'Cory' Aquino, Dead at 76
Speaking of politicians in the third world, I've just received news that former Philippine President Corazon 'Cory' Aquino finally passed away. She's been battling colon cancer for quite some time now.

TBH, I don't have many memories of her. I was a little child during her term.
Back in the dark ages, we had way too many power problems, as in electrical brownouts, and me and my siblings had to study at night using candles.
RIP.

From billboards announcing their ‘projects’ to immigration cards, you know you’re in the third world when you see images of government employees plastered everywhere. This is truly the lowest form of (shameless) self-promotion. I’ve been to several places around the world and this ‘politician’s face everywhere’ sort of thing is prominent in really shitty countries. Like Iraq. Remember a few years ago when they broadcasted videos of the war in Iraq and Saddam’s face is everywhere?
You have to hand it out to these idiots.
And the idiots who support them.

Lusso Restaurant Greenbelt 5
I don’t know about you but I’m one of those people who always go to the same ‘tried, tested and trusted’ restaurants every time I eat out. It’s not unusual for me to have gone to a place like 10 or more times. I know it’s not good and I’m trying to change that.
