High Up In The Moroccan Mountains

13/06/2014, Celine, Chefchaouen, Current Affairs, Hugo Boss, Morocco, Prada

I find it very amusing how a huge chunk of my close friends, who, I must say, travel as often as do, hate the act of travel itself — flying in particular. Think of long hours sitting inside a steel cylinder, breathing the same recycled air with hundreds of fellow passengers, with no cellphone reception. I don’t mind flying. Heck, I love flying, especially long-haul flights! A 14 hour plane ride with a flat bed, no cellphone or internet access, just me, a few glasses of wine, the latest movies and a sleeping pill is my idea of heaven.

I had the same, familiar feeling of being up in the sky when Mr Swedish and I checked into the Hotel Atlas high up in the Rif mountains in Chefchaouen, Morocco.

In the words of Mr Swedish, the hotel was spartan, grounded and had a sense of simplicity to it. I thought our hotel felt like being in the Soviet-era. The friendly guy at reception was also the bell-boy, the concierge AND the manager. He held on to our passports for hours after checking-in for reasons unknown to man.

The hotel had several floors with many, many rooms and we were literally the only people in the hotel, so it was rather shocking why our room was located in the far end of our floor. Also, we didn’t have wifi access in our room. But who needs internet access when there’s a balcony where you can light up a cigarette and look at the spectacular view of Chefchaouen and its medina?

For the first time in ages, I felt truly disconnected from the world. The overall feeling was rather eerie. The silence was deafening, but we didn’t mind. I was in a state of solitude.

And I loved it.

Back In Beijing For BOSS Black

15/05/2012, Art, Beijing, Hugo Boss

I’m currently in Beijing for the upcoming Hugo Boss BOSS Black fashion show on Friday. It’s my third time in the city. I’m constantly amazed how Beijing changes at a very rapid pace — power of China and all that. Anyhoo, I landed around lunch time and after a lovely room service meal of chicken and mushroom soup , I went straight to Dashanzi aka the Art district. I visited a few galleries followed by a quick pit stop at a cafe for a cupcake and lemonade. Hugo Boss will post the video over the next few days. Fun times!

Is That The Indian Ocean?

25/01/2012, Current Affairs, Giorgio Armani, Hugo Boss, Tom Ford

My friends will forever tease me about what I asked them — “is that the Indian ocean?” Obviously the answer is no, but my oh my, I totally had a “chicken of the sea” moment yesterday.

Berlin Photo Diary

21/01/2012, Berlin, Current Affairs, Hugo Boss, Karlie Kloss

As many of you guys know, I’m currently in Berlin. Sincerest apologies for the lack of posts. I’ve spent the past week in front of many cameras other than my own. I think my good ol’ Canon is starting to feel neglected. I must say I’ve had very little free time to wander around the city on my own let alone document new things I saw. One must note however that I’m here on a business trip (by way of Hugo Boss) rather than vacation. A gurl’s gotta do what a gurl’s gotta do. Also, the weather hasn’t been very cooperative. We only had one afternoon’s worth of sunshine, the rest has been dark, cold and rainy.

Oh I cannot resist sharing what happened this morning. At around 8:30AM, I left my hotel room to go downstairs at the lobby for my car pick up. As soon as I entered the elevator, this really tall, blonde lady said “Ahem” out loud. Being the petite Asian person that I am, I looked up and saw the gorgeous Karolina Kurkova! I almost peed my pants and felt quite embarrassed that I didn’t recognize her at first. It was so lovely seeing her again — in the elevator of our hotel of all places. The last time I saw her was in New York before fashion week last season when me and my bf had dinner with her (and her husband and son). I love Karolina. I must say she’s one of the sweetest and nicest people I’ve met in fashion.

Speaking of meeting people, I also had fun at the Hugo Boss dinner the other night. The Editor in Chief of In Style Germany Annette Weber, model Luca Gadjus (who looks so amazing) and Olivia Palermo were my tablemates. After the dinner, Georgia May Jagger, Sky Ferreira who is super cool (my agent was adamant that we unite), Pixie Geldof (I have nothing but pure admiration for her jagermeister-downing skills) and I went out and about Berlin clubs. Don’t ask me where we went because I’m bad with names. Post-clubbing, we went back to Hotel de Rome for a club sandwich and pasta. All I know is that I got back to my hotel at dawn. I feel like twenty one again. Fun times all around.

Danke schön!

Wishing The Sky Was Blue

19/01/2012, Current Affairs, Hugo Boss

I really love my new sky blue suit courtesy of HUGO. I wore it to this afternoon’s HUGO fall/winter 2012 fashion show. Everyone’s wearing black in super rainy Berlin and my outfit is the perfect ‘pick me up’ in this gloomy weather.
