My friends will forever tease me about what I asked them — “is that the Indian ocean?” Obviously the answer is no, but my oh my, I totally had a “chicken of the sea” moment yesterday.

As many of you guys know, I’m currently in Berlin. Sincerest apologies for the lack of posts. I’ve spent the past week in front of many cameras other than my own. I think my good ol’ Canon is starting to feel neglected. I must say I’ve had very little free time to wander around the city on my own let alone document new things I saw. One must note however that I’m here on a business trip (by way of Hugo Boss) rather than vacation. A gurl’s gotta do what a gurl’s gotta do. Also, the weather hasn’t been very cooperative. We only had one afternoon’s worth of sunshine, the rest has been dark, cold and rainy.
Oh I cannot resist sharing what happened this morning. At around 8:30AM, I left my hotel room to go downstairs at the lobby for my car pick up. As soon as I entered the elevator, this really tall, blonde lady said “Ahem” out loud. Being the petite Asian person that I am, I looked up and saw the gorgeous Karolina Kurkova! I almost peed my pants and felt quite embarrassed that I didn’t recognize her at first. It was so lovely seeing her again — in the elevator of our hotel of all places. The last time I saw her was in New York before fashion week last season when me and my bf had dinner with her (and her husband and son). I love Karolina. I must say she’s one of the sweetest and nicest people I’ve met in fashion.
Speaking of meeting people, I also had fun at the Hugo Boss dinner the other night. The Editor in Chief of In Style Germany Annette Weber, model Luca Gadjus (who looks so amazing) and Olivia Palermo were my tablemates. After the dinner, Georgia May Jagger, Sky Ferreira who is super cool (my agent was adamant that we unite), Pixie Geldof (I have nothing but pure admiration for her jagermeister-downing skills) and I went out and about Berlin clubs. Don’t ask me where we went because I’m bad with names. Post-clubbing, we went back to Hotel de Rome for a club sandwich and pasta. All I know is that I got back to my hotel at dawn. I feel like twenty one again. Fun times all around.
Danke schön!

I really love my new sky blue suit courtesy of HUGO. I wore it to this afternoon’s HUGO fall/winter 2012 fashion show. Everyone’s wearing black in super rainy Berlin and my outfit is the perfect ‘pick me up’ in this gloomy weather.

One of the things I love about Germany (and Germans!!) is that everything works here like clockwork. People are prompt and efficient. I accomplished so many things earlier today — had lunch with my lovely friend Graeme who’s visiting from London (haven’t seen him since Copenhagen last year), did a bit of shopping (more like window shopping — DUH) at The Corner and Quartier 206. My late afternoon however was spent at a small warehouse-like venue for my HUGO fitting. I had to pick three outfits for HUGO (by Hugo Boss) events later this week. We’ll see what I end up wearing. I’m excited! ;-)

Luisa via Roma recently collaborated with twenty fashion brands (from Antonio Marras and Balmain to Valentino and Theysken’s Theory) to customize a pug dog doll produced by Steiff. They’ve invited select fashion bloggers to ‘sponsor’ each each pug; my friends Tina and Kelly of the Bag Snob is currently sponsoring the Balmain pug. I, on the other hand, cherry-picked the most ornate pug of them all: Francois by Mary Katrantzou.

An online auction will be announced shortly. Proceeds from the sales of the stuffed toys will be donated to UNICEF to support disadvantaged children.

Another gorgeous, picture-perfect afternoon in Florence. The only thing that’s missing are two mini-bottles of sparkly wine or champagne…

It’s all good when you have an amazing balcony overlooking the gorgeous Piazza della Repubblica in Florence. Excuse my messy hotel room… this is what happens when you live out of a suitcase… or four!!!

After much coaxing from Rumi, I bought this cute pair of virgin wool/nylon trackpants from high street brand Stefanel the other day. I must say it’s one of the comfiest things I got recently. They’re surprisingly soft, lightweight, and there’s literally no itch factor. It’s Pitti season in Florence so why not pair something oh so sporty with a navy jacket? I like the end result…

How are your finances doing? There are tons of amazing sales EVERYWHERE and my wallet is currently going through a beating. Now I know how Rumi felt when she said it feels like being hit by a bus after walking out of a store with her new acquisitions. I fell in love with this stunning Antonio Marras brocade coat (click HERE) when I saw it on the mannequin. I love the rabbit fur collar and the lovely fabric. It’s good. I initially tried to weasel my out of the purchase thinking, well, it’s a coat. Money is best spent on bags and shoes if one wants mileage… but you know what, when it comes to the sales, you have to follow your heart and your desires. Yes, I do need a new designer bag but it’s gonna be cold for a few more months… a gorgeous coat is still reasonable purchase this time of the year.

I love color. I really do. I’ve made it no secret that the older I get, the more I find it difficult to wear black. Speaking of colors, my wardrobe is going through a severe shortage of the color yellow so this Sonia Rykiel oversized fox fur scarf is a great addition to my closet. I love how it’s so big and huge. I love the feeling of my shoulders and upper back are being enveloped by this fuzzy, furry source of warmth.
