Contrary what to some of you guys think, not everyone in fashion are cold, hard, snooty queens. There are many people in this wonderful and colourful industry who actually care.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America launched a wonderful initiative to raise funds for Haiti earthquake victims. Starting on February 12, 2010, you may purchase their "To Haiti With Love" t-shirt. Proceeds will benefit the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.
Quick public service announcement… I’m sure you’ve heard of the massive earthquake that hit Haiti yesterday. Thousands are feared dead and many, many people are left homeless.
I’m gonna cut this post short and encourage you my dearest and kindest readers to donate ANY amount to go to much-needed relief efforts.

I had a lovely conversation earlier this afternoon with my friend Mrs. T, aka The Bag Hag. She’s auctioning off her Hermès Gris Tourterelle Victoria bag to raise funds for the benefit of Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital in Manila.
I know it’s that time of the year when everyone is busy making AND fulfilling holiday wish lists. Some of you are even wondering why I haven’t posted mine. Truth be told, I don’t have one — not materially, at least.
Looking back at the year that has gone by, it would be extremely selfish of me to ask for more this holiday season. I’ve had so many magnificent things happen to me this year… so many amazing AND surreal experiences. If anything, I’ve made numerous personal milestones I’ve lost track of them all. My life ain’t no quick stroll at the park but for the most part, every day felt like Christmas day. With everything that’s happened this year, let me just say that I’m one heck of a happy, very happy camper. I wish the same could be said for other people.
I hope I could persuade you to stop whatever it is that you are doing right at this moment and consider donating to two very special organizations I have personally supported for years. As I’ve said before, I’m very pro-entrepreneurship. I’ve always believed that providing capital or opportunities to develop small businesses/long-term livelihood for the less fortunate is the most sustainable (not to mention the best) way to put an end to poverty. Oh look at these big words coming out of my mouth. Hah!
With all this hirsute madness going on, is this a coincidence or what? Movember (the month formerly known as November) is an annual moustache-growing charity event held during the month of November. Proceeds from this event go to various charities to raise awareness of men’s health issues such as Prostate Cancer, Depresion and more.
Movember participants are required to grow a moustache for the ENTIRE month and raise funds for charity. Personally-speaking, I don’t think I could last that long given my present circumstances but I’ll do my share by promoting this event.
So yes… I’m calling upon the collective powers of all the hairy boys and gurls out there to join this cute event. It’s for a good cause. All you need to do is donate any amount, big or small and they also accept paypal, to Movember. Your donation, which goes directly to the Movember folks, is tax-deductible if you live in certain countries (UK, Australia, USA, etc). If you’re up to growing a moustache yourself, go ahead and sign up as a participant.
All donations made on my Movember page are going to The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and BeyondBlue (Australia’s National Depression Initiative).
Whether you donate $5 or $100, any help is appreciated. Make a difference. Support the United Nation's World Food Programme's fight against hunger in Somalia.
