America’s sweetheart, Julia Roberts, has a new film called “Eat, Pray, Love”. Watch the trailer. I need to do this in my life!!!!!!
I’d love to travel for a year. I’m sure it’s gonna be life-changing. I’ve just got back after being gone for almost two whole months (ok, NYC, Milan, Paris (for a few hours), New Jersey, Texas, New York and Tokyo are hardly exotic) and I’m already having problems adjusting to my usual environment. What, my pitiful cocoon in the third world? My mother missed me and cried when she opened the door over the weekend before telling me ‘wow, you got fat’.
Sometimes I feel like the world is soo small but I know it’s very big. There are tons of places I really would like to go. India is one of them. I’ve already been to Bali. I guess I just have to work harder, save more money and wait for the right moment to do it.
Can’t wait to see this film. The movie premieres August 13, 2010 in the USA and September 29, 2010 in the Philippines. Boo! Hiss!
Bryanboy Through the Lens of Style.com’s Greg Kessler
It’s been a crazy two weeks! I’m in turbo-blogging mode so let me start with the ‘easy’ entries and allow me to indulge in a quick round of shameless and blatant self-promotion before I continue with fashion, fashion, FASHION! I found these photos of me on Style.com and Style.it (Conde Nast Italy) that were taken by Style.com’s backstage and front-row head honcho, the handsome (and petite, like me) Greg Kessler.
At Anna Sui where I got a last-minute seating upgrade from 4th row to 2nd row (yay!). Ahhhhh the now-famous faux feather Zara coat which I got
back in Manila for $45 on sale (down from $250). I love living in Manila
where it’s hot and humid because nobody buys the coats come sale time
hahaha! Anyway, when I arrived in JFK, at least 10 people at the airport
stopped me, asking where my coat was from. In front of Macy’s, some
really old man touched my coat… I thought I was gonna get attacked by
an animal rights protester, lo and behold all he wanted to know is what
my coat is made from. Even the Daily Telegraph’s (UK) Hilary Alexander
told me it’s a fabulous piece. Lots of people praised me….
unbelievable! I’ve never received so many compliments based on a single
piece of garment alone. Amazing.
Good morning my fellow non-Americans. I can see Russia from my house!
Word from today's Women's Wear Daily is that 30 Rock star Tina Fey, who wore Salvatore Ferragamo to the 2010 SAG Awards, is American Vogue's March 2010 POWER ISSUE cover lady.
This is spectacular!
American Vogue is definitely on a roll.
Rachel McAdams, Jessica Biel and now, Tina Fey. All three are "fresh" faces.
I'm so delighted with this news. This is major! It's like the powers that be FINALLY woke up to their senses and they're no longer recycling the same used blonde goods washed up actresses.
Did someone at McKinsey spike the kool-aid at Conde Nast? Who knows.
In any case, I really like this newfound direction they're taking. Hope they keep the momentum going. And I certainly hope they allocate 1 or 2 covers to models.
If they must, I say dump the usual suspects and give them a group cover towards the end of the year, like what they did to La Nicole, La Hudson, etc last November.
You know what, I'm so happy… this certainly calls for a celebration.
I'm gonna do what I stopped doing in 2004.
I'm resubscribing to Vogue after I post this blog entry.
HOWEVER… mark my words: as soon as I see Gwyneth/Cameron/Kate Hudson/Kiera/Kidman/Charlize on the cover once again, you bet your ass I'll be the first one to demand a refund. Down to the VERY last cent.
Lara Stone somewhat reminds me of the iconic Kate Moss… always photographed with a drink or a ciggie.
They both broke the modeling molds during their time — Kate was credited for bringing in "heroin chic" because of her slender and petite frame and then you have the ferocious and busty Lara, a standout amongst the sea of overstarved, Eastern bloc skeletors.
I love this sort of news. Seriously.
When you think about it, models become even BIGGER entities than they are if they venture outside the fashion 'box'. In order to become a supermodel/household name, you need to date a famous man who is always on the spotlight — an actor, a musician, a sports figure, whatever. Look at most of the supermos — Naomi, Kate, etc.
No other celebrity can give Balenciaga justice other than the ferocious Jennifer Connelly who recently appeared at David Letterman.
It’s always an amazing moment whenever the right celebrity appears in the right clothes, no? Balenciaga and Jennifer is a match made in heaven, just like Tilda Swinton and Haider Ackermann.
Which reminds me… read this fascinating interviewand what my dearest Prabal Gurung (who makes some of the most beautiful and sophisticated clothes these days) said to Style.com: “My clothes are not for everyone, not for every Hollywood celebrity. There is a designer for everyone, and a celebrity for every designer.“
Grace Coddington to Appear at The Martha Stewart Show
This just in: the amazing and iconic Grace Coddington, American Vogue’s Creative Director and co-author of the book “The Catwalk Cats“, stopped by the set of The Martha Stewart Show earlier this week for a special taping dedicated to cats and why they make awesome pets.
Martha invited Grace to the taping as they’re both proud owners of Dominic Calico Persians. Here’s a shot of Martha Stewart with her new persian cats, Empress Tang and Princess Peony.
Big Mama Martha first fell in love the cats when she saw Karen Elson dressed as Grace in an old Vogue editorial a few years back.
If you live in the USA, the episode will air on Monday, January 11.
