I’m probably the last person in the world to buy Carine Roitfeld’s book, Irreverent. I should’ve bought it during Fashion Week and asked her to sign it. Hello — someone is selling an autographed copy of the book starting at $400 on eBay (or $1,500 with a buy-it-now price).

Hat from Cheap Monday, sweater from Theory (click HERE), custom-tailored shorts, shoes by Kurt Geiger, bag by Reed Krakoff
If you haven’t done so, buy Irreverent from Amazon.com.

Saw this cheeky quote from Gladys Perint Palmer’s book, “Fashion People“.

Hysterical, isn’t it? Here’s another one.

I just bought the book from Amazon. I suggest that you do it, too.

Uomini by Mariano Vivanco and Dolce & Gabbana
I quickly popped by the gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana menswear boutique (more like mansion) at Corso Venezia yesterday evening to visit my buddy Mariano Vivanco’s UOMINI book party. I’m a big fan of Mariano’s work and his new book, published by Dolce & Gabbana and Rizzoli, makes a great addition to my ever-growing collection of coffee table books. Now all I need is a table… and perhaps some coffee as well.

Drink, Play, Fuck by Andrew Gottlieb
Remember that book turned into film starring Julia Roberts called “Eat, Pray, Love“? Well, look at what I saw at the bookstore at JFK airport. It’s soo funny I had to take a photo of it.

Yes, it’s a book called “Drink, Play, Fuck” by Andrew Gottlieb.

Luxury Online + Prada Book
I'm feeling a bit peckish for some reading material and there are two books I'm looking forward to buying after (duh) reading about them online.
The first one is the 700+ page Prada book. It's 100 euros retail but you can get it for $79 at Amazon…

… the other book I want is "Luxury Online: Styles, Systems and Strategies" by Uche Okonkwo. I read about it on Women's Wear Daily and it looks promising.

The problem is, both books are not due to be released by Amazon until February next year. That's what, three and a half months?
You may pre-order now but you won't get them until they're out.
Hmmm.

Marc Jacobs Advertising + Juergen Teller Book Signing
I’m a big fan of Juergen Teller’s work. When I was younger, I bought his spectacular model casting book “Go Sees”. So when the lovely folks at Marc Jacobs invited me to his book signing event at the Palais Royal Paris store, this time, it’s for the enormous coffee table Marc Jacobs Advertising book, I had to come visit and see him in flesh.

The Sartorialist Book by Scott Schuman
For US$16.50, now you too can pre-order Scott Schuman aka The Sartorialist’s new self-titled book to be released on August 12, 2009.
Scott Schuman just wanted to take photographs of people on the
street who looked great. His now famous blog (‘the bellwether American
site that turned photo blogging into an art form’ – “New York Times“)
was an attempt to showcase the wonderful and varied sartorial tastes of
real people – not only those of the fashion industry. The book is a
beautiful anthology of Scott’s favourite shots from around the world.
They include photographs of well-known fashion figures as well as those
shots of the anonymous passerby whose imagination and taste delight the
viewer. From the streets of Rio to Bejing, Stockholm to Milan, these
are the people that have inspired Scott and in turn, inspired designers
and people of all ages, wages and nationalities with an interest in
fashion. Intimately designed and created with Scott, the book is a
handsome object in its own right, in full colour on hand-picked,
quality paper.

Amazon is taking pre-orders now.

Poseur by Rachel Maude
Whenever random pundits ask me for my favourite books I always tell them "I don't read. I'm read to." Does Us Weekly or Grazia count? Just kidding. I seriously wish I read more books but I simply do not have the luxury of time. I'm the type of person who likes to read books from start to finish all in one sitting. Also, when you think about it, the best way to improve one's vocabulary is through reading. Is it obvious that I don't read enough? Y'all should know by now how illiterate I am, even a fourteen year old writes better than I do. Hah!
Hmmm.. Tai, Dionne, Cher is dat chu? Clueless is dat chu?
