Meet the ‘Pierre’. It’s the new, limited-edition bag soon-to-be-released by Balmain in collaboration with the chic jewelry designer Aurelie Bidermann. Everything about this bag is pure perfection. I love the size (the bag can fit my day-to-day essentials plus my camera), the luxurious materials (love the suede and the ultra soft leather interiors) and of course, the faux ivory tooth detail. Easy, effortless and oh so cool…
125th Street in Harlem? Why not? Balmain and Vogue Magazine celebrated the launch of ‘The Pierre” handbag the other night at the amazing Red Rooster restaurant. Kicked off by meeting Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing who flew in from Paris just for the dinner, had a few cocktails before feasting on the best cornbread I’ve had in AGES. The lithe Russian Editor Anya Ziourova was one of my seatmates and we both LOVE the chicken. Ended the night with the gorgeous Kasia Struss dropping me off and stopping by at my apartment for a quick vodka nightcap before she went home. I must say it’s one of the best dinner parties I’ve been to in ages, hands down.
In other news, I really love this photo of Constance Jablonski, moi and Karlie Kloss. Even I can’t deal with the fabulosity of this image…
Thought I’d share a few memories from Paris during the recent spring/summer 2013 womenswear collections – all minked up at nine o’clock AM before the Vuitton show, a futuristic stroll, front-row at Chloe, pink flower sighting just minutes before a friend got mugged by gypsy kids, Tour Eiffel after Costume National, one of my favourite looks from the John Galliano show, coat and micro shorts contrasting combo, the ubiquitous front-row photo bombing by mobile devices at Loewe, plastic-covered walls at Maison Martin Margiela, chic clutches at Sonia Rykiel, Hawaiian tropic at Isabel Marant, pure craftsmanship insanity wicker-chair chic at Balmain and more… Will do another batch shortly.
Earlier this year, Balmain Paris announced plans to produce a diffusion line called “Pierre Balmain” with Italy’s Itierre SpA.
Pierre Balmain will offer men’s and women’s clothing from day to eveningwear, jackets, jeans so on and so forth. According to WWD, a tee from Pierre Balmain will run you about US$170 — a far cry from Balmain Paris’ infamous yet chic $1,800 t-shirts.
There’s a reason why a Balmain dress is not for the faint of heart or wallet for that matter. I’m going through the photos I took at the fall winter 2011 Balmain show and this dress, worn by Anja Rubik, caught my eye. I can’t get over the amount of work involved! Just look at the sheer number of sequins, beads, crystals and embellishments.
Nothing beats the pleasure I get from touching things I cannot afford. I'm sure you do the same. Don't lie to me now… liar liar your crotch is on fire! You know, you run to your nearest store by yourself, to see, to sniff, to touch, to hold, to try things you see in magazine spreads. Check out this t-shirt with holes from Balmain's fall/winter 2010 collection…
Everyone loves a good ol' case of schadenfreude. I know it's absolutely cruel for me to say this but I always beam with delight whenever I see hot diggity damn Christophe Decarnin for Balmain items on eBay. No matter what you say, it only means one thing: buyer's remorse! Walking out the shop door after experiencing the high one gets after dropping the plastic for seven grand is insane. When that high turns into a comedown, you just know there's a woman out there in this big, bad, pagoda-shouldered world, quivering, no, weeping, over her mastercard statement.
I didn’t believe my tranny friend in NY when she told me last night that her hair extensions are from Balmain. I thought she was bullshitting at first. There is nothing worse than a queen fiddlin’ with yo’ feelings.
She was serious afterall.
Click HERE and look up “Balmain” on the search box. You’ll uncover MOAR! God I love them licensing deals. Pierre Cardin is dat chu?
Now you too my dear laydee friends can buy Balmain without breaking the bank.
Consider this as your queen-to-queen tip of the day.
Coming up next, Tyra Chops and I will teach you how to smile wit cho eyez!
