Backstage at Material Boy
Material Boy is one of the shows I’ve been looking forward to this week! I **LOVE** these super straight, super narrow leather trousers… so gorgeous!!! And the SHOES. Oh my god I love the shoes!
But yes… I went backstage with Patty to have a quick look before the show. I think Material Boy is amazing. I was surprised when I saw them at the Seven New York website. Love, love, love Material Boy!
Front Row at Thurley
Thurley is quite nice! The models are absolutely gorgeous and there were lots of beautiful dresses which are absolutely feminine and fantastic. I loved that show; the music was nice, too.
There’s this one white dress towards the end of the show that, IMO, was cool but the construction was quite questionable. Not particularly sure what happened but as the model walked the runway, bits and pieces of the dress (what looked like flower petals? oops!) fell off on the catwalk… otherwise, I think it was a great, immaculate show.
Patty Huntington & Sonny Vandevelde
Fashhhhhhhhyon bloggers unite! Took this hilarious photo of fashion journalist Patty Huntington and Sonny Vandevelde here at the media room of Australian Fashion Week.
After a week of last minute "oh you HAVE to come" nagging, I finally caved in. I wouldn't be here in Sydney for these two amazing guys. They're the best!
Just finished watching the Konstantina Mittas show (my first show today… front row center baby!) and I thought some of the pieces were lovely!
The model who opened had difficulty navigating the runway, and there’s a handful of black lace-y pieces which reminded me of Prada but nevertheless, I loved that show! The collection is quite interesting… AND refreshing to see after seeing a lot of fun and playful clothes yesterday.
Sonny Vandevelde in Action
Sonny V working the lens backstage at LifewithBird
It's finally nice to see Sonny in action after all these years of talking to him. <3 <3 Sonny V!
Goodie Bag Extravaganza!
Look at all the goodie bags I amassed today. Pure insanity but I LOVE it! Why spend money (and precious time) buying presents for mum, dad and the rest of my familia de horreur back home when I could spend money on excess luggage to take these with me latah? Instant presents! Just repack them and give them as gifts… or, if you are being particularly naughty, just sell them on ebay like all the American editors do. Hahaha! Just kidding. Most of you know I have a major problem with parting away things (because I’m too damn materialistic) so good luck to me indeed.
I’m a bit knackered now (3:37AM!!!) and I promise y’all I’ll go through my loot later and take pics for everyone to see. :)
Seating Arrangement: Row A
Check out my assigned seats from today's (or should I say YESTERDAY'S) shows. I sat on the front-row for most of the shows (see the third column where it says Row A) except for Camilla & Marc (who, btw, I love very much), Silence is Golden (I was soo late so I ended up standing in a corner) and Daniel Avakian.
Not bad eh?
Thank you thank you THANK you to all the designers, the PR folks and to my hardworking host, Bex, for giving me the best views on the runway yesterday.
1. Alice Burdeu is LOVELY TO THE MAX!!!! Fashion journalist Patty
Huntington gave me a quick preview backstage at the Alex Perry show and
the moment I walked into the room, there she was, Alice in flesh! She’s
super nice and accommodating! I seriously felt like a starstrucked
15-year old girl! Here’s a quick photo I took. I have no idea how to get rid of the red eye so
whatevs. She’s soo tall and beautiful. Love, love, LOVE Alice!
2. I spent most of the night at this lovely place called The Piano Room for Camilla & Marc’s after party. A lot of the fashion folk were there, from stylists, loads of PR people, this chap named Grant Pearce (who is EVERYWHERE and BFFs with Kirstie Clements!) and of course, Kate Bosworth. All the bars in Sydney are non-smoking so I stayed at the balcony to smoke and Kate friggin Bosworth was 2 feet away from me the entire time. Literally! Now… don’t ask me why I didn’t come up to her. I’d rather pretend I’m “cool” (my ass haha) and not be bothered by her but deep inside I wanna go like “OMG KATE BOSWORTH!!!” Hahaha! I’m sure she’s lovely but it’s gonna be so weird if I came up to her etc.
3. There’s this guy buyer from one of the most exclusive stores in the world who I think is quite possibly one of the most severely-refined fashion person I have EVER, EVER seen in my entire life. Well him and Martin Webb (who is 104% hardcore but more on him later) are fierce. The buyer guy is quite a looker alright and he’s also impeccably well-dressed. Put anyone next to him and they would probably look like a scruffy peasant. Yep!!! But yeah… me and my new OZ friends (oh wow!) were talking about him because he was REALLY hardcore FASSSSHHHHHHHYONNNNN. It really made me think — how do these refined people do it? Maybe you’re born with it, maybe it’s maybelline? I cannot picture all these chica folks do random pedestrian things like wipe their butts off with toilet paper or what have you. Do they sleep at night in oversized tattered t-shirts? What do they wear lounging around the house? Juicy Couture tracksuits? Hahaha! What what what?
4. What is up with all these Australian strangers asking me/people for cigarettes? Culture shock much? They really just go straight up to you as if you’ve known each other for a long time, do some chit chat and then bam they ask you for a cigarette!! I think it’s cute but a bit odd at the same time. I’m not being selfish at all, no no, I just find it weird that you can actually come up to someone and ask for a fag. Just. like. that. Do that in the Philippines and you’ll probably get shot on the kneecaps. Just kidding! Hahaha!
I’ll try to do it tomorrow and see if someone will give me a ciggie. Haha!
Front Row at Alex Perry
It's 2AM… I should be sleeping right now but I just got back and I'm SERIOUSLY backlogged. Let me do a couple of quick posts. It's been KERRR-AZZZY today but it's all fabulous and good!
Alex Perry is fantastic! I sat front-row at his show earlier tonight. Alex is Australia's most glamorous designer. He's the ultimate go-to guy for frocks built for the red carpet. His dresses are exquisite and absolutely incredible. More pics to follow! I think he should step up his game further, i.e. show overseas and go up, up, up and away!
Jonathan Pease @ Alex Perry
Remember Jonathan from Australia’s Next Top Model? Oh dear. Hahaha! I saw Jonathan Pease and Alex Perry at this cafe a few hours before Alex’s show started and then I saw him again after the show. He’s super nice!! This photo doesn’t give him justice AT ALL but whatevs. He’s GORGEOUS! They all are here in bloody Australia!!!
