The Big Breakfast

22/10/2014, Alexander Wang, Current Affairs, Louis Leeman, Louis Vuitton, Monte Carlo, Prada

I think it’s interesting how I’ve turned into a breakfast person over the years. I’ve spent most of my youth going to bed when the sun rose up. The word “breakfast” was certainly not part of my vocabulary back then. I remember hating on “breakfast” for many, many years. I thought it was pointless and excessive. Why eat when you’re gonna have lunch in a few hours later anyway? I’m ok with my morning coffee and orange juice, thanks very much.

These days, a I can’t live without a full breakfast. It’s my favorite meal of the day. A man cannot liven Starbucks Venti Americano and Marlboro Lights alone. Bring me that plate of meat, y’all! Mama needs her morning dose of protein!

I have no idea what triggered my love for breakfast. Hmmm. I have a theory that it has something to do with the fact that I spend more time in hotels than in my apartment. Free food everyone, free food! Breakfast buffets are also very colorful and pretty.

Another theory is that as I’e been waking up anywhere between 5 and 6 in the morning each day. Cue #oldpeopleproblems. I *love* waking up early. I always feel superior whenever I wake up before everyone else. I feel like a proper person, a real responsible adult. I’m also very productive in the mornings. When I wake up at such ungodly hour, it’s inevitable for hunger to strike, therefore it’s my cue to hit the buffet table.

Are you a breakfast person?

Chefchaouen Medina, Morocco

28/05/2014, Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Celine, Chefchaouen, Current Affairs, Morocco

I’m thrilled to be back in Morocco once again — it’s my third time around. This country has a very special place in my heart. I’m currently here, very high up in the northern Moroccan (Rif) mountains, visiting this gorgeous town called Chefchaouen. If you ask me to name some of the most beautiful places I’ve been to, I would definitely include Chefchaouen on my list. It’s a quaint little town where the buildings, streets, alleyways, walls and doors are in different shades of blue. Visiting the Medina is a must. It was rather humbling walking around — you feel like you’re in some sort of time warp. I haven’t felt “detached” from the world in such a long time and believe me, it’s a precious, magnificent feeling.

X Marks The Spot

23/04/2014, Alexander Wang, Barbara Bui, Current Affairs, Dubai, Theory

Y’all know me and my taste — I usually love anything AND everything colourful and embellished but lately, I’ve been toning it down big time. I’ve been stockpiling a rather disturbing amount of white items in my closet over the past few months. My obsession started last year but now it’s gone full force. It’s mildly disturbing actually. Whenever I go to stores, I usually make a beeline to the white section if they have it. Before leaving for Dubai, I bought this nifty “X” Alexander Wang sweater. I feel like there’s something chic about white clothes. It makes you look clean, pristine and of course, effortless. Yes, I know the white memo arrived late in my inbox, in any case, I’m loving this ‘new’ look on me.

Don’t Wear Your Heart On Your Sleeve

02/09/2013, Alexander Wang, COS, Current Affairs, Saint Laurent Paris, Stockholm

Välkommen till Stockholm! Words cannot express how nice it is to be back in Stockholm aka Stockhome. I used to go to Stockholm at least four times a year MINIMUM but my schedule this year stopped me from coming back sooner. This trip, thanks to Fashion Networks Europe, feels like a homecoming to me, not to mention a celebration of different milestones. Rumi and I first bonded and sealed our friendship in Stockholm (during fashion week) a few years ago so to be back at the same exact place is special. It’s also amazing to see some of my closest and dearest people in my life in the same city. Y’all know who you guys are. Talk about a reunion of all sorts.

2013 America’s Cup in San Francisco

16/07/2013, Alexander Wang, America's Cup, Camper, Current Affairs, San Francisco

All aboard the Camper spectator yacht. Come sail with me! The lovely folks at Camper, proud sponsors of Team New Zealand at this year’s America’s Cup (2013), invited me to watch the challenge in San Francisco between Prada Luna Rossa and Team New Zealand. It’s my first time to watch such sport. It was surreal being on this massive yacht for hours, touring around the San Francisco bay to watch two powerful boats compete for the Cup. I love being on the water — there’s something oh so liberating about it. had so much fun. Congratulations to Team New Zealand!

Hater Blockers

17/09/2012, Accessories, Alexander Wang, Current Affairs, Oscar de la Renta, Prada

It’s been quite some time since I last took these Alexander McQueen visors out for a spin. I’ve had it for a couple of months now. It never fails to draw so much attention — I’ve been stopped many, many times on the street from people asking me whether I could see through them (the answer is yes)! And then of course, talking to my friends always result in major hysterics. “You need to take them off when I’m talking to you. I can’t take you seriously!,” a friend quipped. The visors are obnoxious, yes, but it’s a great conversation piece. I love it.
