Remember my Marrakesh photo diary? I must say this new post will top that blog entry. After a week of traveling India’s Golden Triangle, here’s a selection of the photos I took in New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. India is such an amazing country. I am obsessed with all the colours, the textures, the sights, the sounds, the scents, the spices, everything! It’s hard NOT to be inspired here. I’ve been wanting to visit India for years and I’m so glad I did. I’ll definitely cherish this trip for life.

I took over 5,000 photos during my trip so far. I’m back here in New Delhi and my holiday isn’t over yet. Perhaps I’ll do a part two? We’ll see…
So tell me my dearest readers, what’s your favourite photograph?

In the past week or so, I’ve been to New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, also known as India’s “Golden Triangle”. I started from New Delhi, drove to Sikandra to see the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Akbar, went to Agra to see the Agra Fort and of course, the crown jewel of India, the Taj Mahal, made a pitstop to see Fatehpur Sikri (where one of the imams told me my outfit was immodest so he made me put on this white cap AND fuschia pink wrap that was sooo Lanvinesque) and finally, went here in Jaipur to visit the Amber Palace, City Palace and Hawa Mahal.

Here are some quick snaps over the past few days. I’m holding out on all the other amazing pictures for my other posts. Stay tuned. :-)

I went to the marvelous Agra Fort earlier this afternoon. Took a photo of this beautiful Indian girl, who must be around 6 or 7 years old, in a white dress. While her parents and siblings were busy taking photos of each other, there she was, by herself, admiring Jahangiri Mahal from a distance. She seemed to be at peace. I wonder what’s going on inside her head.

My other half has a newfound obsession: photo editing. After dinner last night, I told him to download GIMP, a free, easy-to-use graphics software which he can use to edit photos. Not in a “I want to be skinny, liquify 50 pounds out of me” kind of way but easy, breezy, effortless cover girl type of photo editing. You know, change the colors, crop, resize pictures to make them smaller, etc. The internet connection in our gorgeous hotel is a nightmare and it’s stressful, not to mention emotionally draining, to upload files on teh interwebs.

I was sitting beside him when he emailed a selection of personal photos (both wonderful and depressing) to his friends and I couldn’t stop myself from asking, what is it with white people’s westerners’ obsession in photographing (and sharing) the other side of reality? You know what I’m talking about — the grim part of human reality. They like to travel far and wide, especially to the exotic, to deliberately photograph poverty, the sick, the disabled, dead dogs, unsanitary conditions, etc. He says he likes to photograph them because he thought it was shocking, out of the norm and of course, extraordinary. “This just doesn’t exist in Sweden,” he says.

After a long, seven-hour road trek from New Delhi, I’m finally in Agra. I’m spending two nights here to visit some monuments including the great Taj Mahal. We left New Delhi at 10AM and we didn’t get to our hotel until five in the afternoon. In spite of the insane rainshowers, it’s still very hot and humid outside. Thank heavens for the strong airconditioning at our palatial hotel which I’ll share to you later. My bf and I were gobsmacked at the sheer magnificence of our temporary home. Let me share you some pictures for now…
