Happy Monday kids! How are you guys? I don’t know about you but if you aren’t one of the tens, if not, hundreds, of thousands of people who flocked to Miami for this year’s Ultra Miami 2014 Music Festival, let me tell you, you missed a lot. No, it has nothing to do with getting high to have “fun”. Mind you, I’ve never done molly nor do I have plans to do so. I’m thirty two, I have high blood pressure due to years of cigarette smoking (I’m trying to quit, promise!) and I’m way too scared to fuck with my heart. My youth wasn’t spent sober… I’m sure y’all know I have even more dangerous (and expensive) vices, namely Prada and Fendi….
For me, it’s all about the music. I find dance music extremely therapeutic. I’d say I can easily get high just by listening to a major track. A good song is like riding a fast-moving rollercoaster. It can pull you up, drop you all the way down, fiddle with your emotions, bring back memories, etc. And then you let go, stomp around, hands up in the air and do your best fist pump.
I thought I’d share some of my personal highlights from this year’s festival. My favourite sets over the weekend are by Alesso, Nicky Romero and of course, the one and only numero uno Hardwell, who showed absolutely zero mercy, closed Ultra and fucking killed it.
Here are some two new gems from Alesso. THESE TWO SONGS ARE EVERYTHING.
Alesso’s full set for your pleasure.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kP-60SDGlBs
Here’s the full Nicky Romero set. God damn he’s good.
Hardwell’s earth-shattering, goose-bump inducing set. Worship.
Oh oh oh, 3lau dropped a track called “Always” featuring a collaboration with Blinders and Shaun Frank. I was so desperate to find out the name of the song… and then I had a lightbulb moment. Why don’t I ask 3lau on twitter, so I did. And he replied within minutes right after his set. LOL. I can’t wait for it to be released.
Here’s 3lau’s set. The track begins at 18:25.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRJXalbyRvY
I also love “Shadow of the Sun”.
Peace, love, unity, respect. Eat, sleep, rave, repeat.
