Ever since I switched to my (perhaps “invested is the most appropriate term to use given the astronomical price tag) behemoth monster of a camera (Canon 5D Mark 2), I must say I’ve become very suspicious of portable, tiny ‘point and shoot’ cameras. The quality isn’t the same, you know?
Olympus Japan recently gifted me one of their Olympus Pen cameras (Olympus Pen Lite E-PL3 to be specific) and I must say I’m very impressed by it. There are times when I don’t want to bring my ultra heavy camera with me, especially when I’m going out at night. Nothing screams “FASHION BLOGGER” more than someone in designer clothes with a huge camera dangling from his/her/shim’s arm. The Olypus Pen Lite is tiny, compact and very discreet. It’s the perfect camera to bring when you want to document private memories.

I’ve been thinking of buying one like this too, but still I went for the ‘screaming fashion blogger cam’ simply because I like to look through the ‘lens’…

hm, good to know – I will be traveling for a few months and documenting the fashion. So I’m currently looking for a less conspicuous camera. Really hesitant to bring my clunky 5D. This is helpful! caseofthetinycloset.blogspot.com
Can we be besties? You’re fab.

i’m an olympus pen user and i am nothing but happy and contented with this camera. definitely one of my best buy and it suits teh fact that i don’t like DSLR and the people who walk like a freakin camera store… good for street photography and the art filter are amazing…micro four thirds rules! (http://lifetoreset.wordpress.com/ – check my shots using olympus pen..)
Absolutely agree – I have the Olympus EP3 and it is convenient and takes great photos! And let’s not forget it’s stylish too.

I’m actually looking for that kind of camera. Not to heavy but good quality! Do you recommend your camera? Btw, LOVE your blog! / http://justvendela.blogg.se
I bought the E-PL1 2 wks ago but had to return it cos the flash was not working but I love the photos I have taken. Alas, got the Panasonic Lumix GF3 instead because it’s even smaller and lighter with Light Speed AF focusing system.
Can you show us some of your personal shots with that camera?
Seems like an amazing camera!

I’ve been using the E-PL1 for about a year – it’s great & I’m sure the E-PL3 is even better!
I totally love your new camera!
Oooooo…I’ve been eyeing these micro four third cameras for awhile now. That is one awesome gift:)
