RIP Marc Jacobs Sunglasses

Hu hu hu I’m so sad. Another city, another item lost. Excuse me while I mourn the loss of my beloved Marc Jacobs sunglasses. I’ve lost them in Singapore. I have a feeling I dropped it while watching one of the shows at the tents during Audi Fashion Festival.

I always lose something precious every time I travel.

Forget the fact that I’ve lost my cellphone this Friday. It’s the third
time I’ve lost my phone this year. I’ve left it in a cab after a night

But yeah… Balenciaga glasses? Left it at a toilet cubicle in Narita airport en route to Detroit after a trip to Australia. Fox fur stole? Stolen by a thieving midget of a lesbian bull dyke in Plastic in Milan last year. Lanvin sneakers? Left it in Milan this March. I was on the verge of losing my Chanel bag when I got mugged in Paris last October — it’s a good thing the not-so-street-smart robbers were only after my money and not my bag which they could’ve sold on eBay. I guess they didn’t see the resale value in that. Then there’s a time when I thought I’ve lost my passport in Sydney airport because I spent my time going through duty-free fragrances, drunk! I left my passport AND boarding pass on a counter somewhere and I only found out about it when the boarding gate attendant handed it to me prior to boarding the plane — not the other way around!

Oh yes, Marc Jacobs.

These glasses, aka “haterblockers” shielded me from many unpleasant haters, made me camera
ready by concealing my wonky eyes, unkept eyebrows and hideous eye bags
from appearing in photos.

Lord knows how many times I’ve received comments like “don’t you have
many other pairs of sunglasses?” or “maybe you should put it to
retirement” or “do you only have one pair?”

Well, I believe that when
you truly love something, there’s nothing
wrong in wearing it unabashedly to death. Whether it’s a pair of sunnies
or a piece of jewelry, a statement accessory like that becomes part of
your identity. It completed my looks, it became… a part of me.

I never leave home without oversized sunnies. I’ve traveled the world ever since I bought them in September 2009 and I always take them with me.

I’ve been photographed wearing them when I’ve met Mama Nay Nay Campbell and Rachel Zoe. Even the amazing Aliona Doletskaya, Editor in Chief of Vogue Russia, tried them on when we had drinks before the Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 show.

I think it’s gonna be a long time until I find another interesting pair. Unfortunately, you can’t buy them anymore because it’s like 9000 seasons old, they’re limited edition and they’ve sold out already.

Bryanboy Marc Jacobs

How sad, eh? There goes my $600. Down the drain, just like that.

But the many, many memories and the many, many pictures I’ve had wearing them will always be here forever.

Just sayin.

one of the first interesting and meaningful posts youve done in awhile. should talk alittle bit more about how there is a connection between the item and the owner..

  2. poor bryanboy! well, at least you have its best moments captured on photographs. immortalised. :)

  3. ahhh Bryanboy, I hope a good Samaritan finds the glasses and realizes they’re yours and returns them to you!! those sunnies have become your trademark in a sense and I mourn with you! :(

  4. You poor thing. I can totally empathise. Hey you look a little like Alexander Wang in one of the photos..

  5. DON’T GIVE UP!! I saw those exact same sunglasses this past weekend at the Marc Jacobs store on Melrose Place in Los Angeles. Please give them a call – i know how annoying it is to lose something you love. sorry :(

  6. Alexa

Im so sorry, I know what it’s like to lose stuff, and I’m just a teen! I’ve lost my BB bold, Kris Van Assche sandals while at the Maldives and my new Yves Saint Laurent bag from the S/S 10 collection was STOLEN while I was in freaking Spain. I had an Hermes wallet in it too :[ (the same one you have but the red one).

  7. trish

sorry for your loss, but maybe it’s a sign that you’ll get/see another great sunglasses. But i’ll totally miss that sunglasses on you

  8. I know how you feel..My attachment to lost Dior Hedi Slimane designed double zipper gloves still lingers and it’s painful…

  9. i hope you do know that whenever you leave stuff in hotel rooms you can ask them to sent it back to you. hotels (only 4-5 stars usually) have a policy of keeping items left behind for 6-12 months. 30% of the time they’ll send it free of charge, 30% of the time they will charge for shipping, and 30% of the time they will say they will charge of shipping but never do. i’ve stayed in over 200 hotels, and i tell you even hotels in remotest places like bishkek or almaty will send back left behind clothes. i left my cellphone in a hotel in karlovy vary, czech and they sent it by normal post – and lo and behold i actually received it (Philpost didn’t steal it! how amazing is that?!?!?! they said they were charging my cc 3 euros for it but never did). so next time, just call and talk to either the housekeeping mgr or front desk mgr.

  10. Bryan try to call MJ in SoHo, I think they still have it. I have the same one and i know how precious it is and I get a lot of positive comments from people whenever i wear it.

Also you might want to try Alexander Wang x Linda Farrow Project sunnies. I have one and I got it from Opening Ceremony. They will really look Fierce on you. Lady Gaga wore it when she was promoting Heartbeat earpieces and SNL.

Just always remember, once you lost something, something new will come and will be much better.

  11. What about settling for Quay sunglasses? it looks exactly the same and made from australia. its not the $600 Marc Jacobs but if you can’t afford it, you can still get the same loook for $50 ! they sell them at oak in nyc .. (

  12. What about trying Quay sunglasses? its the same exact style, just not the $600 Marc Jacobs. If you still want the look but don’t want to spend the $600, the Quay ones are only around $50. They sell them at Oak nyc. (
I actually almost bought the pair this past weekend !

  13. I feel sad for your loss.
I have a feeling you’ll get a new pair immediately (and perhaps as a gift)

  14. sighhhh i would have to jump mountains on top of mountains work killer hours and then never get any sleep making gowns then die to get those glasses
