Christian Dior Haute Couture 1949 vs 2010
HERITAGEMANIA continues…
Here's a photo of the "Junon" ball gown from Christian Dior in 1949…
… fast forward sixty one years later, here's a gown from John Galliano for Christian Dior haute couture spring/summer 2010.
The keyword for 2010 is… "HERITAGE"!

Dior has a vault that is full of Christian’s old sketches and already designed dresses as well as just print ups that the designer of today goes to for reference so as to not lose Christian in spirit. it’s all very beautiful and I love that even when the line is completely different than you would expect from Dior, you can still find pieces, big or small, on the new designs that bring you back to that place and time decades ago with Christian Dior himself!
Actually Miley wore a Muraid that bears “uncanny resemblance” to the vintage Dior.
Dior had always been about heritage under John Galliano, I don’t know how many times he’s referenced the New Look over the last 10 years!
Not complaining though, Dior is still eye candy!
Dude, Miley Cyrus wore that…
lust. love repeating fashion history today.
I spotted this similarity, of not the same, right away. and I think it could be a sign of the end of John Galliano for Dior. Nothing new here for this HC Dior collection.
The “Junon” ball gown from Christian Dior in 1949 is a beautiful treat to the eyes.. and clearly a product of passion for fashion. I adore this masterpiece!
Aspects of photography aside, I like the 1949 version better, too. I think the colors of the 1949 gown—from the fabric and the embellishments—are more in harmony than those in the 2010 gown. 1949′s embellishments on the skirt are also more visible than 2010′s that go in the same shade as the skirt petals.
Nevertheless, the 2010 gown is still a killer.
I liked the one from 49 better. Nice post!
Hey I sort of remember the Junon Ballgown being featured in one edition of Vogue. Can anyone remember?
I think the original is far more gorgeous!

DARLING ARE YOU HERE IN PARIS FOR THE FASHION WEEK?? LET ME KNOW !!
the 2010 version looks like an 18 yr olds prom dress.
i love the vintage dior. sadly it was worn by miley cyrus at the 2009 oscars.http://images.hollywoodgrind.com:9000/images/2009/2/miley-cyrus-oscar-dress-1.jpg
If they’d been swapped, I’d still believe it :)
stop by some time
xx
I love how both dresses look like magnificent Betta splendens. Also, the “Junon” ball gown reminds me of a cascading waterfall.
So dreamlike… I love the whimsical vibe each brings, true designs from Dior.
AMAZING! Im so glad he used Chanel in his show. She is a real beauty.
