Rachel McAdams for Vogue USA January 2010

Remember Regina George from Mean Girls? Well, actress Rachel McAdams (in Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010) is on the cover of January 2010 issue of American Vogue.

I remember whining not too long ago how American Vogue usually picks from the same pool of actresses for the covers, namely Nicole, Charlize, Cameron, Sienna, etc. so this cover is quite a bit of a shocker and totally unexpected.

It's a good thing, no?

Anyhoo, I'm particularly curious with two of their cover stories — "Youthquake 2010" and "When Size 4 is Too Big".

I think I'm buying this issue.

  1. Please BB. Are you serious? NO. It’s still the same bland Vogue. I don’t get why some ppl refer to it as the fashion bible cuz bible it aint’. Vogue America sucks big time. I best prefer Vogue UK. They tend not to be so pretentious when it comes to picking a cover girl. While Vogue America is all about white, actress(most times), wearing a blah dress. I still find it to be too safe. So what if they put a new actress? She’s still a actress and white at that. Not that i have anything against white ppl. But i’m sick of it. That’s why i don’t buy Vogue no more. I can’t wait for someone new to replace Anna.

  2. The poll things doesn’t seem to be working so I comment instead. I love it! It is great to see a new not-so-familiar “vogue” face and her hair is different, in a good way. I am used to seeing this color really washed on her or as a brunette. This is interesting. Love the color and LOVE her in D&G. She looks very classy. I think I will be purchasing this issue as well!!

  3. i’m not buying it. I think it looks like a Madonna (from the 80’s cover) meets Charlize Theron cover

  4. I think you’re right when it comes to Vogue recycling the same celebrities but Rachel Mc Adam is a complete 180 but it’s a good thing. I’ve always been a fan of hers and she looks amazing on the cover! She really is a fresh face for the new year!

  5. It’s sort of off, but this makes it more interesting.
To be honest though, American Vogue is a bit bland for my taste.

  6. who wouldve thought those mean girls would still be trying to outdo each other 10 years later :)

  7. I voted yes cause I love me some Rachel McAdams. I also agree with your comment about American Vogue covers. They never really use real working models unlike Russian Vogue or French Vogue. It’s probably a marketing strategy. Lastly, awesome dress from Dolce and Gabbana. Although that mini cardigan made it more conservative

Ditto. American Vogue has some great editorials from time to time, but they truly cater to the average, boring, unfashionable American woman. Wintour is successful because she knows that making fashion palatable to the everyday woman means profits. I admire her, but at this point in time she needs to either take a new direction or step down because American Vogue is becoming a joke.

  9. I adore Georgina George! Yeah, I remember very well, I swear I did not recognize in this cover, this beautiful! your lipstick color is one of my favorites, beautiful Rachel, recently saw her in The Notebook ;) loveely movie ♥

  10. such a terrible cover((( i think it was not grace who did it!!!!! sometimes us vogue it is so terrible((

  11. Despite that she is from the same gene pool that Vogue usually picks, she’s different because she is a Canadian actress, from Ontario, not just another American Actress. McAdams studied at York Univerity (I think) before pursuing her successful acting career. I think that she is perfect for the cover of Vogue-however, the picture is pretty bad! the exposure is waaay to bright

  12. this could be alos 1993 09 2003.. American Vogue never had fashion forward covers, the best one is still Vogue Italia
