A Place in Fashion History

A Place in Fashion History

In a very bizarre (and surreal) twist of fate, I had the privilege and honor of sitting on the same row as some of the fashion industry's heavyweights at the Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2010 fashion show yesterday afternoon: IHT/NY Times' Suzy Menkes, Michael Roberts of Vanity Fair, American Vogue's Sally Singer (who I really love and admire), Anna Wintour and Hamish Bowles, and Tommy Ton of Jak and Jil.

Dolce & Gabbana Front Row

I'm usually the early bird when it comes to fashion shows but this time around, I went there two or three minutes before the show began because of pre-show interviews I did upstairs. When I finally settled to my seat, reality hit me. There I was, sitting amongst THE establishment. Influential people who shaped fashion for years and whose work you've kept track of since childhood. I've lost all sense of self and wrote a post on twitter how I wished for the ground to open up and swallow me alive. I was soo nervous throughout the entire time I even dropped my cellphone to the floor!

Thank you so much Dolce & Gabbana for this wonderful opportunity and for embracing us bloggers with open arms. I'll cherish this experience for the rest of my life.

Coming up next: models! backstage! clothes! Dolce & Gabbana's return to the classic floral prints!

PS. The very handsome 'stached Hamish Bowles is, as always, AWESOME! He came up to me after the show and it's soo nice seeing him again.
