Holt Renfrew Unveils Fashion Blogger Windows

From Germany to Italy, let's move on to cool Canada! I have known this for quite some time now but I didn't want to blog about it until it's officially out there and Womens Wear Daily beat me to it. Trust me when I say it wasn't easy keeping this under wraps.

In about two days (this Friday evening), the glorious folks over at the 170-year old Holt Renfrew, Canada's leading luxury retail institution, will unveil their new window installations celebrating their favourite bloggers: the humble ickle 'ol me, The Sartorialist, Sea of Shoes, Garancedore, I Want I Got and Jak & Jil.

Holt Renfrew

Why are they celebrating fashion bloggers? According to Holt Renfrew Creative Director John Gerhardt:

"Bloggers have become the fashion world's new celebrities. They're knowledgeable and influential contributors to the modern media landscape. Their opinions and visuals are relevant, creative and thought-provoking, providing a constant source of inspiration. We are honoured to pay homage to their style."

If you live in Canada, be sure to pay a visit to nine of their locations in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton to see the installations. I wish I could see the actual unveiling but alas, I'll be in Paris this Friday.

Don't forget to take photographs! I'm very curious what my window display would look like — send me pics. It's not every day a highly-regarded international retail institution pay tribute to my antics… I mean COME ON, not even Shoemart (or Rustan's) in the Philippines probably doesn't even know I exist!!! But that's ok. Haha. I know my target audience quite well. ;)

To the lovely folks at Holt Renfrew, thank you…thank YOU so much for this very, very generous tribute. We're truly honoured!

  1. Eurotrash!!!

OMG BRYANBOY !!!! You’re going to be in PAris??!?!?! I’ve been following your blog for the last 5 years during my student period, I now work at the Louvre email me and I will give you a free tour!!! It would an honour to meet you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. myjloass

will do from Vancouver… it would be an honour to take a foto, it’s not everyday that I see a fellow Filipino praised and lauded in the world of fashion….. I can’t speak for the majority of the gays back home and elsewhere but I am very proud of you and I tell everyone to check out your site…. congrats

  3. I’ve read your blog for sometime now, and I come back on a regular basis for the fashion coverage.
I suppose the other reason Holt Renfrew has created these window displays inspired by bloggers is because the store is running to find their own blogger that will cover the store’s events and news. So, it’s a bit self-serving.
However, I live in Vancouver too, and am interested in seeing the window that you inspired.

  4. Lr Arceo

Its OK if SM and Rustan’s don’t know you here in the Philippines, Paris and Milan do. That’s way bigger. As in big time!

  5. I just walked by the one in Toronto yesterday & the windows are all covered up..I was wondering what they were working on! hahah so cool — will definately take pics for you

  6. Ryan X

the ones in montreal are up :D i’ll take photos tomorrow…it looks cute but the windows in MTL r not as big/grande as the ones in TO

  7. Even though the windows were still covered up when I walked past them today, I managed to snuck a peak and I saw your window at Holt’s in Toronto!
Yours is so cute, with a mannequin dressed as you (of course) inside a giant shopping bag – reminiscent of your spoof of Posh’s MJ campaign. There are also some photos of your fans in the background; Terron Wood’s photo is rather prominently displayed!
Your window is the one by the main entrance of the flagship store.
    Congrats, BB!

  8. Just so you know it’s summer in Toronto – what’s with the ice sculpture?

  9. Filipino achievers are not recognized in the Philippines! After being recognized abroad, that is when these achievers become sweet. You have the Arnel Pinedas, the Lesley Mobos, and the Charice Pempencos of the world now. Nobody even noticed them in the Philippines?

Why? Because of the age-old colonial mentality cum aristocratic society that never worked. You have to have the correct family name to be recognized in the Philippines. That to me is soooo laid back.

Kudos Bryan Boy! I read an article about you in the H&M magazine in San Francisco.
