A Sketch from Prabal Gurung
I squealed with delight when I read on Women's Wear Daily that my friend Prabal Gurung is launching his namesake label this Fall 2009 season in New York on February 12 at the Flag Art Foundation. Prabal (aka Miss Gurungi in some circles) used to work at Bill Blass for five years.

I'm really excited and proud of him! It's refreshing to know that in spite of the recent flurry of terrible, terrible news in the fashion industry due to the financial crisis (show cancellations, downsizing, job losses, the list goes on and on and on), here's a great guy who bucks the trend by taking a very bold risk just to follow his dreams — all for the love of fashion.
I asked Prabal if I could get a photo of a sketch or two to
post on my blog (ala WWD) but he gifted me with something else — a
sketch for me with my bag pose in it. WOW! Thank you, thank you, thank you babes. Congratulations on your new venture and I can't wait
to see your collection!

Nice designs…The fashion industry and the world need people like your friend to refresh and give a new life to fashion as concept of life and not a way of spend money and only the comercial stuff is important. I see fashion as art as style not as money or luxury…Nice post as always!
