Rodarte at L'Inde le Palais Bologna

Wow. Just wow. I love Rodarte. I really do. I think sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy are super talented. I always look forward to what they put out on the runway during NY Fashion Week. Most of what I've seen from them are only based on photos and I've never seen an actual Rodarte piece in real life. According to their website, Harvey Nichols in Hong Kong carry their line. Perhaps I've missed it? Anyway, I found a store that sells Rodarte online. I'm shocked… talk about sticker shock!

The hand-knitted sweaters are incredible (visit the site
and check out the amazing details) but alas, the price point is way too
prohibitive for the common man. Now that we're at it, L'Inde le Palais (based in Bologna, Italy) has an amazing selection from Lanvin, Rick Owens, Givenchy, Missoni, Proenza Schouler and more. I'm definitely gonna keep an eye out on them from now on.

Isn't it interesting how all these European stores are coming out online?

All I need right now is a Russian bajillionaire.

  1. meh. i’m disappointed with those rodarte garments. they are no different to that of missoni. grab an ice pick and start making holes in your missoni sweater. presto, instant rodarte!
    rodarte = deconstructed missoni

    I have to agree that the Rodarte phenomenom is more hype than substance. They actually look very simple just using different weights of wool and large needles. Also extremely unflattering. Get out your own needles!

    One snag of those sweaters to a door handle or desk corner and I think the whole thing would come apart. The effect is cool but for that kind of money it’s just not practical.

    I used to intern w the PR firm that reps Rodarte. Bwiset yung mga utash doon at parang doon pumupunta ang kasayahan para mamatay, but they did a pretty good job. I mean just LOOK at the hype they were able to generate for Rodarte. The clothes were very delicate and they had to be handled with extra special care. Very specific tapos ang daming arte. Di-kuchon at di-seta pa ang mga hanger tapos kelangan naka box… eh yung mga ibang damit linalagay lang namin sa paper bag. So siyempre pag dating sa mga magazine at standout sa meticulousness lang talaga ang packaging, may psychological effect din yun diba kasi pag-uusapan sha. Iisipin mo talaga that there must be something special about this. Pero ineng ang mahal lang talaga nya.

  5. I want to see some real rodarte! like those gawjus flowing dresses that were all over the fall runway.
    The selection is very slim and not that good, as goes for the rest of the designers on the website. The clothes they picked are all in blacks and grays and dull colors- not exactly the highlights of the seasons collection. Though still a website to keep an eye on, as the bags and accesories they carry are quite nice.
