MIUCCIA PRADA IS WAVING THE SISSYFICATION FLAG!!!!! God damn I love Prada. Have you seen her latest collection? You know there’s something up in the air when one of the world’s most innovative, fashion-forward tastemakers go on a kooky runway spree. Amazing! Swan lake, is dat chu? Bolshoi theatre, anyone?
From the metallic and jacquard trousers and the mini tutus to the white
shirt cuffs, the skin-coloured sweaters and the cut-out collars etc. I love sooo many things from this collection. I really do.

I love the mini tutus!!!!! This is progress, my dear minions! I could see myself in one of them sweaters, that mini skirt with nothing else but a plain black thong, some st. tropez fake tan on my legs and a pair of flip flops. Hah!
To be honest with you, I’m not sure about the message she is trying to send with this collection. I saw all the looks and there’s NOT a single coat, NOT a single scarf, NOT a single winter hat in sight — a complete turnaround from her brilliant Fall 2007 collection with the caveman coats. Is this a new way of winter dressing? Is this her response to the global warming chu chu bells crap? I dunno… but I friggin love it!
I can’t wait to hear the reaction of the usual suspects how a man should dress up like a "man" and such.

The white shirt cuffs underneath the sweater is also lovely. Such a chic combination, no? I know it’s crazy but I keep on noticing all these little details which I love!

All in all, I love this collection from Prada. I think she’s a genius. It would be interesting to see how this translates on the retail level. That tutu is mine!!!

The Prada collection was particularly head-scratching. Miuccia presented a collection that included high waisted underwear, tutu’s and shirts that button up in the back.

talula, i think this is one of the more ‘classic’ ( and by that i mean by prada standards) collections of prada. shirts, trousers, suits, the staples of classic menswear are all there but she has subverted them.
i don’t find anything sloppy about the pieces. unusually juxtaposed, yes, but there is nothing ‘sloppy’ in my eyes per se.
It’s not about what a “man” should wear. It’s about the unfinished sloppy look that is so unprofessional. I hate this collection.

I get the drama/joke but i really DON’T like this collection. Far too gimmicky, looks like costume. I just don’t get the styling- KL was right, it looks like project runway outfits gone wrong. It’s all those novelty details and accessories, so wrong. But then again, who dares challenge Miuccia?
This collection is like Prada’s biggest low ever, the whole gender-bender thing is so old, even Dior Homme has moved on. They make all their profits from bags and accessories and Prada sport stuff probably, so they can do what the hell they like with runway.. i.e. make it all vile.
i haven’t loved a men’s prada collection in a long time, but i am swooning over this. i think it is divine and has a lot to offer intellectually, without compromising on what clothes are meant to do and be: ie make one beautiful and stylish. the styling is really fantastic.
sadly, i don’t think it will be a successful collection as the men in america, which is the largest menswear market, will not like it. hence determining its fate as a failure. what do you think american men they will make of the ‘halter’, the back-buttoning shirts and the ‘man-kini’?
seriously, i don’t see too many men, either gay or straight buying the stronger and more directional looks and pieces.

Weevil, it doesn’t look like a zipper to me. I think it’s a pocket — I’m not sure either. But yes, if you look a few photos above it, look at the trousers of the one wearing a blue shirt with buttons on the back. Then look at the belt area. You’ll see there’s two closures on each side of the back.
