Anna Wintour to Hillary Clinton: This is America, not Saudi Arabia.
Oh smell her! You simply do not, I repeat, do not, mess with the Queen Bee! Remember how Hillary Rodham Clinton was a NO-SHOW on her Vogue cover shoot last year? Well, here’s something from Anna Wintour herself, printed on the Editor’s letter in Vogue:
"Imagine my amazement, then, when I learned that Hillary Clinton, our only female president hopeful, had decided to steer clear of our pages at this point in her campaign for fear of looking too feminine. The notion that a contemporary woman must look mannish in order to be taken seriously as a seeker of power is frankly dismaying."

"This is America, not Saudi Arabia. It’s also 2008: Margaret Thatcher may have looked terrific in a blue power suit, but that was 20 years ago. I do think Americans have moved on from the power-suit mentality, which served as a bridge for a generation of women to reach boardrooms filled with men. Political campaigns that do not recognize this are making a serious misjudgment."
I wonder who Anna will vote for this year. Obama, anyone?

This is an interesting blogger piece on Hillary’s possible reasons for backing out:

oh yeah, obama’s got his own cover before edward’s… while christie brinkley, a supermodel in the 80′s, doesn’t have her own hahaha!!! anyway, i agree with bb about having one’s own personal style. She’s an icon already but Madonna’s an icon, too. frankly, i couldn’t care less. I love Anna W!!!
William, people like Anna Wintour have their own style and they stick to what works. The “powers that be” usually do it, case in point: Anna Wintour, Anna Piagi, Carine Roitfeld, Diane Pernet. I think it’s some kind of a statement — personal trademark style is better than trends… which is true.
Anna’s been the editor in chief of American Vogue for over 20 years and have permanently made New York as her home base, don’t you think she probably claimed american citizenship as well, for practical reasons? I dunno. I would assume (again this is just an assumption) that she’s entitled to vogue.
Is she even allowed to vote here in America? She’s British…
Obama also got a men’s vogue no?
i can say that anna always makes a point when she writes her letter from the editor even before she hired sally singer which was, correct me coz i know i’m wrong, around 2000. she wouldnt be editor-in-chief of the “fashion bible” if she’s stupid, duh! and she’s rooting for john edwards, based on last year’s article on his wife and the men’s vogue cover.
anna vs hillary
oh girl we all know you do not snub miss wintour… Conde Nast Jabs Clinton for Cancellation In her February editor’s letter, Vogue editor Anna Wintour takes Hillary Clinton to task for her last-minute photo-shoot cancellation: The notion that a
OMG I LOVE SALLY SINGER!!!!!!
lol
On the topic of dated styles, Anna has not changed her hair in over a decade. She could look so much better if she only changed her hair.
She should run for president herself. And ration food supplies so Americans can become thin. Only one skimmed latte before 6pm, that should be a good law.
20 bucks says that was written by Sally Singer!
20 bucks says that was written by Sally Singer!
20 bucks says that was written by Sally Singer!
You go gurl friend! She’s most def voting for Obama.
anna wintour is a greatly disillusioned little woman if she thinks that just coz it’s 2008 and she’s not in the middle east that men and women are suddenly equal. maybe in her small world of fashion it is, but not elsewhere. it’s like believing that just coz blacks aren’t lynched anymore – in the US, that blacks are treated equally as whites. pure bull.
Ana does have a point.
i think she may feel just a little cut by that…
poor Anna
